Osgoode Peer Support Centre

Osgoode Peer Support Centre The OPSC is a student volunteer-driven service for Osgoode students seeking a supportive individual Office hours will commence in the fall!

The Osgoode Peer Support Centre (OPSC) is an entirely student volunteer-driven service for Osgoode Hall Law School students seeking a supportive individual to speak with about personal matters. Under the Peer Support Network, students will be matched with Peer Supporters who will provide them with support, encouragement, and resources to help them cope with the stresses of law school and personal

life. Peer Supporters are Osgoode students whose role is to actively listen and provide support to students who want someone with whom to talk. Peer Supporters and students are matched by an OPSC co-chair, who is bound by confidentiality. Come to room 0014A to gain more information on the Centre and access our resources. Hours of operation will be posted to this page.

We’ve extended the deadline to apply to be a peer supporter with the OPSC!

This is a really great way to give back to the osgoode community and support your fellow peers so if this is something that interests you we highly encourage you to apply. The link to apply can and more info about the program can be found below.

The OPSC strives to create an open and friendly environment at Osgoode where students feel comfortable finding support from peers and future professional colleagues. The Peer Support program does exactly that with our roster of students who are committed to being ambassadors for this cause. Students who seek support (be it emotional, social, academic, or more) are welcome to contact any of our Peer Supporters, who are ready to listen.

OPSC’s Peer Support Program involves a roster of dedicated Osgoode students whose main role is to provide informal emotional support to other students for a number of academic, mental health, and related challenges. Peer supporters are not expected to be professional counsellors. They are law students who understand what a stressful experience law school can be. They are a non-judgemental resource that you can utilize if you want to talk to someone in an informal capacity. The personal information that is shared with peer supporters remains confidential.

If you identify as an empathetic and active listener and are interested in becoming a Peer Supporter, fill out our application form using the link in our bio!

All 3Ls and 2Ls are highly encouraged to apply, and anyone who has been a peer-supporter previously is highly encouraged to apply.

The deadline to do so is September 13th, 2024 at 11:59 pm.

When a Peer Supporter has been accepted, he or she must sign a non-disclosure and participate in one training session. The Peer Supporter may be contacted anytime during the school year by the OPSC when there is a student seeking Peer Support services, and will participate in one-time conversations or on-going conversations, depending on the needs and abilities of both the peer and the Peer Supporter. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
