Networking for Newcomers: How to Build Connections in Canada

Looking for a Volunteer

Looking for someone to shop for an isolated senior living in the Stonegate community.

While access to healthy food was already a concern for many residents in the Stonegate neighbourhood, it is clear that food insecurity in our community has now reached crisis proportions, with our local food bank attendance increasing over 400% in the past five years.

Thanks to generous donations to our annual Holiday Drive, Stonegate CHC has been able to provide Good Food Boxes to local individuals and families dealing with food insecurity and hunger during the holidays, as well as offer access to fresh produce year-round to those struggling to put healthy food on the table. Since we began the annual fundraiser, we have given out close to 4,500 boxes to those in need in our community.

A donation of $25 is still able to provide a local family a large size Good Food Box brimming with fresh produce.

• $50 provides Good Food Boxes to 2 families in need
• $100 provides Good Food Boxes to 4 families in need
• $250 provides Good Food Boxes to 10 families in need
• $500 provides Good Food Boxes to 20 families in need

100% of donations go towards providing fresh healthy food for those in need.

In December, Stonegate CHC will be offering another Winter Clothing Giveaway to our community.

We are currently collecting gently used winter clothing (pants, shirts, sweaters, coats, boots, accessories) for men, women and children.

This will be our third year organizing the event and it continues to grow as we've already had inquiries from various people and organizations in the community as to where they can donate clothing.

We are now in the process of collecting donations and would greatly appreciate any of the above mentioned items. We do ask if clothing be in good condition, washed and mended as we do not have the facilities to prepare clothes in order to share with the community. Information regarding day and time of the event soon to follow.
