I am a Graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Toronto (2002 – 2006). The 4-year Professional Training Program in Gestalt Therapy provided me with a solid theoretical and experiential foundation for my work as a therapist and a group facilitator. I practice therapy since graduation and full-time since 2008, offering one-on-one, couple, family and group therapy. I have provided over 3000 hours of trea
tment to people struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, s*x and gender roles, low self-esteem, grief and bereavement, immigration/culture shock, difficult life transitions, and other difficult life challenges. About Approach to Therapy:
The goal of therapy is to help you to overcome your limitations, to heal and to grow. My job as a therapist is to assist the client in becoming aware of what they are doing, how they are doing it, and how they can change it; to support them as they learn to accept and value themselves. The emphasis is on what is being done, thought and felt at the moment rather than on what was, might be, could be, or should be. Clients and therapists in Gestalt therapy dialogue, that is, communicate their unique perspectives. Differences in perspectives become the focus of experimentation and continued interaction. In addition to Gestalt, I integrate into my work insights from Attachment Theory, Psychodrama, Developmental Psychology, Mindfulness-based Meditation Techniques, and CBT. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients to gain greater awareness into their lives, and to empower them in making long-lasting changes that lead to more choice, fulfillment and happiness in their lives. I practice trauma- and oppression- informed therapy. My style is empathetic, warm and humorous, yet challenging. My approach to gender roles, s*xuality and relationships is s*x-positive, open-minded and non-judgmental. I understand the importance of s*xual expression and intimacy, and I am supportive of my clients’ lifestyle choices and s*xual orientation.
