Research indicates that approximately 38% of individuals report heightened anxiety and depressive symptoms during this period. It is essential to acknowledge that experiencing these feelings is a normal aspect of the holiday season.

For Linsey

Wet hands covered in the supple clay
That before sat in an amorphous lump
But now moved to the wheel
in her hands it found its shape.
Life is like that, water is always present in the change.
Like at baptism.

Starting with the art of making lips water for food
Next rising in the surf under a new moon
Far away from Ontario’s lakes
to a land of white sand beach lagoons.
A woman emerging from the sea
Remaking herself with her potter’s hands
In this new land.

Here she is seated as the wheel turns clockwise
Balanced between her knees and thighs
The clay takes on a new life in her eyes.
Shaping, then reshaping
This rhythm is a familiar movement of the tides,
Fluidly mirrored, in her life’s clay modified.

Now what took shape caressed by those hands,
Were vessels of love, in this land of white sand
Like therapy dispensed in the quiet of the day
This time with water and clay.

🍑Sacral Charka🍊
The Sacral Charka (Svadhisthana Chakra) is the 2nd Charka which is the center of our creativity, s*xuality, intimacy, emotional- wellbeing and inspiration. The symbol of the sacral chakra is orange with six petals surrounding the center. The circles in connection with the lotus flower petals represent the cycles of birth, death, and rebirth.

Signs of a balanced sacral charka: feelings of creativity, playfulness, confidence, sensualness, s*xual pleasure, manifestation and creation.
Signs of a blockage/imbalance with the sacral charka: addictive/compulsive behaviours, s*xual dysfunction, fear of change, emotional instability, feelings of shame and guilt. In the body, the sacral chakra connects with reproductive issues (infertility, impotence, or menstrual issues) and lower back, kidney, or stomach disorders.

(There are three fundamental aspects of our beings that work together in harmony in order to create a state of radiant health; the Mind-Body & Soul Connection)

In essence the sacral chakra can be considered an incubator of creation and manifestation. S*xuality is the essence of life, a fundamental universal energy. S*xuality isn’t about s*x. Rather, relationship to our desire, our creativity, our drive, and our connectedness, not only to others but also to ourselves, to our own flawed sacred human bodies. Connecting to our s*xual selves doesn’t always have to mean connecting to another person.

S*xuality is an important part of who you are as a human being. It is a scared life force that is in alliance with the universe. There is no right or wrong, it’s about what’s right for you and how you express your life force in healthy way with intention.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition which is triggered by witnessing or experiencing a terrifying event such as; a natural disaster, sudden loss of a loved one, r**e, violent personal assault, terrorism/ combat, serious accident, being bullied or harassment.

Symptoms of PTSD can include:
-Flash backs
-Nightmares
-Anxiety
-Panic attacks
-Uncontrollable thoughts and feelings of the traumatic event
-Inability to function in daily life
-Feelings of sadness, guilt, numbness and anger
-Unclear thoughts/ impaired decision making

Symptoms of PTSD may last long after the terrifying experience and are reoccurring. PTSD survivors may also experience sensitivities to loud noises and unexpected touch.
Psychotherapy, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Talk therapy can help control symptoms and help prevent them from getting worse in a safe environment with the help from a qualified mental health professional.
