Take it from someone who has lost 55 lbs. and kept it off for the last 20 years.
For instance, yesterday was my “active rest day,” and it just so happened that I bought gourmet doughnuts and had pizza for dinner. I can’t remember what else I had at lunch, but that was my day’s worth of meals.
In the past, I would have felt guilty today, swearing to restrict myself today, only to fall off again later today or tomorrow.
And then I would get so hung up on the increase in the scale this morning, too.
But a lot has changed since then.
Yes, there’s something to be said about eating clean all the time to reach your weight loss goals.
But is that something you could realistically do ALL the time?
Balance isn’t so much a “requirement” as it is something that keeps you sane and grounded in realistic expectations while on your weight loss journey.
And I hate using the word ‘empowering,’ but that’s precisely what it is when you take the time to balance eating foods that are considered less healthy and more healthy.
Anyway, that’s my message for this Saturday—especially as “clean eating” tends to fall by the wayside on the weekends.
Permit and be gracious to yourself to indulge a bit, and if necessary, pick up where you left off as soon as later today.
You’ve got this.
