The Midwives Clinic of East York-Don Mills

The Midwives Clinic of East York-Don Mills We are a partnership of midwives who work in Toronto, Canada. One of your midwives will always be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for urgent concerns.

Midwives attend your birth at home, the Toronto Birth Centre or at Michael Garron Hospital; midwives will give you information to make decisions and choices that are right for you and your family. You will be cared for by well-trained, sensitive female caregivers that respect individual differences of women and their families. Cultural sensitivity is an important aspect of the care your midwives will provide.

Haley is another student joining the practice soon. They’ll be joining the green team next week! Bio below:

My name is Haley (they/them), and I’m a senior midwifery student at Toronto Metropolitan University. I grew up on the lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak, and Attawandaron peoples (now called London, ON) and currently live in Tkaronto, the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples.

Before midwifery, I studied kinesiology, which deepened my understanding of body movement and health. My journey into midwifery is rooted in a passion for community-led, client-centered care. As a white settler, I am committed to ongoing learning and reflection on decolonization, anti-oppressive care, and making healthcare more equitable.

I see midwifery as both a clinical and relational practice—building trust, providing care with respect, and ensuring clients feel informed and supported in their choices. I am honored to be part of people’s care during such a meaningful time in their lives.

Outside of midwifery, I love crocheting, puzzles, and spending time in nature.

I am continually grateful for the clients, midwives, and communities who shape my learning and practice. I look forward to deepening my skills and knowledge as I prepare to step into the role of a primary care provider.

We have new students joining us soon! Sarah will be joining the Blue team, you may start seeing her around next week.

Check out her bio below:

My name is Sarah Al-As. I identify as a POC with ancestries from Algeria and Yemen. I am fluent in English and fairly fluent in Arabic and Bahasa Indonesia. I am a midwifery student at Toronto Metropolitan University. Prior to pursuing midwifery, I graduated with a degree in Human Biology and Health studies from the University of Toronto. Growing up I have always admired the works of reproductive health and have always been fascinated in the pregnancy and birthing journey, as such was determined to continue my studies and become a health care provider in this field. I am committed to providing equitable reproductive healthcare to marginalized clients involving anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and trauma-informed care frameworks.

When I am not drowning in my studies; I love spending time outdoors, figure skating, and spending time with my family.
