⚠️ Glassia Storage & Infusion Guidance During Severe Weather ⚠️

‘Tis the season for inclement weather across Canada!

Stability concerns arise once Glassia is removed from refrigeration. It is advised to keep the refrigerator door closed during power outages. If there is an extended outage, consider a cooler bag for temporary storage.

If an infusion is missed due to weather conditions, resume your next scheduled infusion as planned. Need to cancel or reschedule an infusion appointment? Patients must contact the Patient Support Program (PSP) directly at 1-844-691-7284, press 4 for the Glassia team.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact AlphaNet Canada directly at 1-888-254-4993.

Each alveolus is supplied by many tiny blood vessels called capillaries. For oxygen and carbon dioxide to be exchanged, they must cross the alveolar capillary membrane. This exchange is promoted by diffusion — the passage of gas molecules through respiratory membranes. In diffusion, oxygen passes to the blood, and carbon dioxide, a by-product of cellular metabolism, passes out of the blood and is channeled away through exhalation.

This weekend, we were proud to address the misconceptions surrounding Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and collaborate with fellow patient organizations, industry partners, and government stakeholders during the 2025 NRBDO Deliberative Dialogue & Fall Forum.

Our Executive Director and NRBDO Chair, Angela Diano, chaired the event, which featured in-depth policy conversations on plasma collection and product use in Canada. She was joined by Jon Holmes, AlphaNet Canada, Intake Manager, and Joanna Jagdeo, Canada’s Alpha-1 Patient Registry Coordinator.

A key takeaway from the weekend was the importance of understanding the full clinical patient experience to inform future patient needs. This is why participation in the global clinical patient registry, EARCO, is so essential.

Please contact Joanna at info@inspirationresearch.ca to confirm that you are enrolled in EARCO.
