As the year comes to a close and a new one approaches, it’s a time many of us pause to reflect on care, connection, and collective responsibility.

Throughout the year, our work has focused on providing holistic, culturally safe healthcare while addressing the broader social and structural determinants that influence health. Factors such as poverty, racism, gender, immigration status, disability, and systemic bias continue to shape access to care and experiences within healthcare systems.

The turning of the year reminds us that progress is possible, but it requires sustained advocacy, community leadership, and a shared commitment to equity. We believe that everyone deserves care rooted in dignity and respect, and that meaningful change happens when communities are supported to define their own health and wellbeing.

As we enter the new year, we do so with hope and determination. Hope grounded in community wisdom, and determination to continue advocating for systems that are fair, inclusive, and responsive.

Thank you for standing with us in this work. We look forward to the year ahead.

With gratitude and purpose,

Staff at WHIWH
