One of my favourite things to prep for a conference (after my keynote speech is written!) are gift bags for conference attendees. Whether my team is selling them to individuals or an organization or corporation has purchased them for everyone in the audience, it is a great feeling to make these kits filled with compassion, empathy, guidance, and tools for the colouring forgiveness 💛 Interested in purchasing one of these gift bags, or my individual products, DM me or pop over to my website. Need an unforgettable keynote speech for your event? I’d be honoured to deliver one 🥰

Here's a glimpse of me embracing the unexpected when my makeup artist cancelled at the last minute before my TEDx talk. I’m more comfortable talking about major trauma and the justice system than I am applying eyeshadow, but I channelled the skills I learned in Grade 8 (and honed for news broadcasts during the pandemic) and did my best. It's not just about the makeup; it's about rising to the occasion, no matter what it throws your way. Proud moment of stepping outside my comfort zone so I could step onto the stage! 💄💫💪🏻

Thank you CTV Your Morning for my conversation with Anne-Marie Mediwake about what victims endure in the justice process, particularly in high-profile s*xual assault cases against celebrities, like the 5 former Canada junior hockey champions who have been charged with s*xual assault by a woman who states they assaulted and intimidated her in a hotel room in 2018.
And while I appreciate all the news coverage about the initiatives that are being taken to help young hockey players understand that "no means no", when it comes to consent, we need to be teaching that consent is "an enthusiastic, continuous and sober yes". It never involves inviting a group of your teammates in to watch, take pictures/videos, perform s*x acts, coerce someone to perform s*x acts, or intimidating them in any way, especially not with a golf club, hockey stick or any form of weapon. And hey, if you're a 6-foot+ tall professional athlete, your body is a weapon of intimidation and force to most people too.

After being interviewed all day by media about the Hockey Canada players charged with s*xually assaulting a woman in a hotel room, I think it’s time for a reminder about some basic guidelines (see infographic).
I’ll add a note to #2: If your friend has s*xually assaulted someone and invites you (and more friends) over to watch them continue to s*xually assault that person, don’t join in.
And one more important tip: If you weren't able to remember these guidelines and avoid s*xually assaulting someone, please have the courage to tell the truth and be accountable. Here again, you could use the buddy system and ask a friend to support you. If you tell your lawyer you are guilty and your lawyer insists you plead not guilty, get a new lawyer. Don't put your victim through a trial.
My gratitude to the journalists and producers who reached out to make sure they took a trauma-informed approach to their reporting
