St. John Ambulance is a component of the Priory of Canada (whose legal name is The Priory of Canada of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem). St. John Ambulance carries out its mission in Canada under two main arms, training and community services. The Order of St. John is one of the world’s oldest humanitarian organizations. This world-wide, non-denominational, charitable organization is dedicated to the service of others in over 40 countries. There are more than 30,000 members worldwide, supported by approximately 250,000 regular volunteers and 4,000 employees. With roots dating back to the 11th Century, the present day Order of St. John was incorporated in the United Kingdom by a Royal Charter granted by Queen Victoria in 1888.
