PureMama

PureMama Passionate about supporting you through the first year postpartum & beyondđź’— During my second year I became pregnant with my first child.

My name is Dr. Jenna Priestap ND and I am FIERCELY passionate about women’s health with a specific interest in supporting new mothers in their new endeavour of becoming a mama (whether it is your first or fifth-you are a new mama every time!). Here’s a little more about me:

I pursued a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo where I graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree with Dean’s Honours List distinction. During my time at UW, I had the full intention of going to conventional medical school but did not feel like the medical model fit my values of looking at the person as a whole yet all other professions seemed to focus solely on mental health or physical health. I spent time with multiple professionals trying to find one that spoke to me and was love struck when I found naturopathic medicine. I had finally found a profession which strived to find the root cause of disease and not just treat symptoms, tailored treatments specifically to each patient’s needs, as well as look at the person as a whole and honouring that mental, spiritual and physical health are intertwined.

I spent 4 years studying naturopathic medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in North York, Ontario. It was then that I was hit with the realization that the amount of supportive information for expectant mothers was lacking. When I had my daughter, I quickly realized that when a baby is born, so is a mother and not only had to juggle taking care of this new life but discover this new identity I had. I was no longer just Jenna the student, I was Jenna the student + Mom/ultimate milk-producer/diaper changing rookie/a hormonal roller coaster and had NO IDEA how to navigate this new adventure. Who knew that breastfeeding was so hard? Why do my nipples hurt so badly? Will I ever feel human again? Why am I all of a sudden so anxious? Why am I so emotional and what can I do to feel like myself again? Upon looking for support, I was once again hit with the realization that the resources available for new mothers is largely lacking and found my path. I knew then that I was meant to advocate for new moms and help support women in this crazy period of life. I have since had a second daughter who keeps me busy and has once again taught me what being a mother means.

As moms we tend to put everyone first and leave our needs to last. Let me be the person to take care of you and answer all of your health-related questions that I know are buzzing in your head. I want to help optimize your health so you can fully embody this new identity and thrive. I will be the person to take care of you while you take care of everyone else. After losing her 16-year-old son Josh to a drowning accident, Wanda Butts refused to let tragedy define her — instead, she transformed it into a purpose that would save countless lives. Founding The Josh Project in 2007, Wanda began teaching swimming and water-safety skills to minority children, who are statistically at far greater risk of drowning. What began as a mother’s act of healing has now empowered over 1,200 kids with the confidence and ability to survive in water. Named one of CNN’s Top 10 Heroes of 2012, Wanda turned heartbreak into hope, proving that even in the deepest loss, a mother’s love can ripple outward to protect the world.

For over three decades, Sally Becker — known to the world as “The Angel of Mostar” — has embodied the purest form of heroism. Beginning her mission during the Bosnian War in 1993, this fearless British humanitarian drove ambulances through active front lines to rescue wounded children from the besieged city of Mostar. Her compassion didn’t stop there — she went on to lead Operation Angel, organizing convoys that evacuated dozens more from the horrors of war. Even after being captured by Serb paramilitaries and shot by masked gunmen in Northern Albania while saving injured children, Sally refused to give up. Today, as the founder and CEO of Save a Child, she continues to deliver medical aid to children in conflict zones from Iraq and Ukraine to Gaza. Honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 Pride of Britain Awards, a Nobel Peace Prize nomination, and the chance to carry the Olympic Flag for Peace and Justice, Sally Becker stands as a shining reminder that courage, compassion, and motherhood can truly change the world.

When 14-year-old John Smith fell through the ice and spent 15 minutes underwater, doctors declared him clinically dead — no pulse, no heartbeat, no hope. But his mother, Joyce Smith, refused to accept that ending. Standing beside his hospital bed, Joyce prayed with unshakable faith, asking God to bring her son back. Moments later, John’s heart miraculously started beating again. Just 16 days later, he walked out of the hospital — completely healed. Their extraordinary story of faith and love inspired the major motion picture “Breakthrough”, showing how the power of a mother’s prayer and an entire community’s belief can defy the impossible. Joyce calls it “the story of our life,” a living testament to divine power and a mother’s unbreakable spirit.
