This pulp houses the nerves and blood vessels of your tooth, and when it gets irritated, it can cause some serious discomfort.

Sensitivity Extremes: Is your tooth hypersensitive to hot or cold beverages? Does it react painfully to sweet or sour foods? Lingering sensitivity, especially after the source of the discomfort has been removed, can indicate pulp damage that might require a root canal.

Swollen Gums or a Facial Pimple: Inflammation and swelling around the affected tooth or on your gums are potential signs of an infection. In some cases, this infection can create a pimple-like bump on your gums, which can be quite tender.
