𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭' 𝐬 𝐖𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞?

For healthcare providers in the auto insurance sector the recently published Ontario Government sunshine list is a read-it-and-weep situation. Heading into year 13 with 0% increase we see that government decision makers with the power to do the right thing are doing considerably better than we are.

Average % increases 2025 for those earning $100,000+

FSRA --> 23.5%
Ministry of Finance --> 10.5%
MPPs --> 35%
Healthcare providers. --> 0%

With each passing month more healthcare professionals are leaving the auto insurance sector to work in other areas of healthcare where they will be fairly paid .

Who will look after injured drivers once we’re all gone?

If this concerns you too, share this post to help bring more attention to it.
The more visibility this gets, the harder it is to ignore.

𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲… 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞

Adding insult to injury.

In Ontario’s auto insurance system, vehicles are repaired quickly and at current rates.

But injured Ontarians are increasingly unable to access the rehabilitation care they need.

While auto insurer profits continue to rise, underpaid healthcare providers are being forced to leave the industry, leaving patients with fewer options, longer wait times, or no care at all.

Why are auto repairs paid at 2026 rates, but not professional rehabilitation services?

If you work in this sector, you’re seeing the impact firsthand. 𝐇𝐒𝐏𝐬…𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬! 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞

What goes up does not come down when we’re talking about the cost of Ontario auto insurance. Thanks to the double standard employed by FSRA when it comes to regulating insurers and healthcare providers, premiums have increased 67% on average in the 12 years that healthcare professionals have worked without any increase.

This isn’t balance. It’s a double standard.

The Ministry of Finance and FRSA, who regulate this sector, seem to find nothing amiss in the chasm between the treatment of healthcare professionals desperate for an increase for more than a decade, in comparison to insurers who can seek rate increases on a 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬.

This impacts more than providers, it impacts access to care for injured Ontarians.

If you work in this sector, you see this every day. HSPs…please help us amplify this message. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Zeros for Heroes - Time Travel:

Healthcare workers in the auto sector have worked 12 years without an increase in professional fees. Strange but true. Regulated Healthcare Professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, speech-language pathologists, registered massage therapists and others who provide rehabilitation to those injured in Ontario auto accidents have had their hourly rates frozen since the last cost of living increase was awarded in 2014.

This isn’t just about providers. It’s about access to care. When experienced clinicians leave the sector, injured Ontarians are left waiting. Where is the action? Where is the transparency?

If you work in this sector, you know this reality. HSPs…help us amplify this!

Navigating the Minor Injury Guideline (MIG) can be challenging—and costly for both patients and clinics when injuries are inaccurately classified. Join us on November 27 at 1 PM for a presentation by Siskinds LLP Partner Dagmara Wozniak.

Register Today: https://ontariorehaballiance.starchapter.com/meetinginfo.php

Following Dagmara’s presentation, we will host an open Q&A for both health service providers and clinic administrators to ask questions related to the MVA industry, operational processes, documentation, and form submissions.

Members of our Ontario Rehab Alliance Board will help answer questions, but the intention is to have an open conversation among those present (sharing resources and asking questions openly).
