Choosing yourself isn’t always as simple as it sounds.
For many people, especially within close families or cultural communities, it can come with a quiet but heavy feeling:
Guilt.
Guilt for setting a boundary.
Guilt for saying no.
Guilt for wanting something different.
And sometimes, that guilt can make you question yourself:
“Am I being selfish?”
“Am I letting people down?”
But often, this feeling isn’t about doing something wrong.
It’s about navigating the space between who you’ve been taught to be…
and who you’re beginning to become.
In today’s blog, we explore how family expectations, cultural values, and emotional patterns can make choosing yourself feel more complicated than it seems.
