✨How I perform EXTERNAL pelvic floor release on my hypertonic pelvic floor✨

This is a follow up video to my last how-to! It’s not really a case of either/or with internal vs external pelvic floor trigger point release. They both do different things.

Perfect if you:

⏩️ don’t have a wand

⏩️ aren’t ready to do your own internal trigger point release

⏩️ are looking to add more techniques to your pelvic floor care

I’m using a female pelvic floor here, but this how-to is also applicable to those with a male pelvic floor.

💥if you have a hypertonic (overactive) pelvic floor you may experience any of the following:

⏩️ low back, hip, or p***c symphysis pain
⏩️ urgency. Needing to p*e constantly but p*eing very little
⏩️painful penetrative s*x
⏩️constipation

So what happens if months of physiotherapy, gentle yoga positions, and breathing exercises aren’t enough?

This was me. My pelvic floor physio is an actual angel (find yourself one!) but not even she could undo years I spent with my pelvic floor overactivated and stressed. And believe me - she tried (and reached 😂)!

I was so stuck in clenched mode that I couldn’t feel my muscles enough to UNclench them.

Figuring out how to use this wand and perform trigger point release myself were hugely helpful. It took getting in there myself to start undoing dysfunction that (in retrospect) long preceded my pregnancy.

I see very little of this content on IG and I ain’t about gatekeeping.

I’m sharing some quick tips, positions, and techniques here. This fundamentally changed my physical well-being and also my mind-body connection.

I used to teach a restorative class in Beijing and inevitably the most crowded I’d ever see it was around Lunar New Year. Think of it as a supercharged Xmas/Hanukkah fuelled by filial obligation, ancestral judgment, and intercine politics + baijiu.

People were just EXHAUSTED. And they’d come in for some big adjustments, to close their eyes, and for ✨quiet✨
