If something isn’t feeling quite right in class, it doesn’t mean Pilates “isn’t for you.” More often, it just means your body needs a different approach.
Most of us spend a lot of our day in the same shapes: sitting, scrolling, driving, and sleeping curled up. Over time, the body adapts, and areas like the neck, shoulders, and low back can start to carry more load than they need to.
Pilates gives us a chance to move out of those patterns and create paths for new ones. Building strength, mobility, and control through a wider range of motion for happier bodies!
A few things we like to keep in mind:
• Effort can feel challenging, but it should still feel supported
• Sharp or escalating pain is a cue to adjust, not push
• Smaller range, slower tempo, or a reset can go a long way
• Your breath is a tool: if it’s strained or held, it’s time to recalibrate
If you’re navigating pain and want support for your practice, our instructors are always here to help you find the options and modifications that make you feel best in your bod.
