When I got sick growing up, my mom would give me cough syrup, Neo Citran, rub some Vicks VapoRub on my chest, back, feet and put me back to bed. I grew up thinking common remedies such as Tylenol, Midol, Cortisone and antibiotics etc. for common ailments were normal. Oral contraceptives were very commonly used to quell period cramps, and/or control its scheduled arrival. In my early 20’s when I began to work full time, I developed a problem sleeping. I used sedatives to go to sleep, and caffeine to try to wake up. I intuitively knew this probably wasn’t a good idea.

Remedy of the Month for August! This beautiful picture was taken by CCHM's Administrative Director, Andrea Deal, right in her own backyard, what a gorgeous flower it has. Hint: during its homeopathic provings this remedy slowed the pulse rate of those who took it. As a result, it is used homeopathically as a ‘similar’ to treat an abnormally slow heart beat.
