Last Saturday, on February 21, 2026, TAIBU Community Health Centre hosted a powerful and joyful Black History Month celebration at the Malvern Mall, a full-day gathering dedicated to community, culture, wellness, education, and connection.

From morning to afternoon, the event brought together people from across the Black community and supporters from ally spaces to honour Black brilliance in all its forms: survival, inventiveness, joy, resistance, resilience, and collective care.

Through drumming, food, trivia, dance performance and a fashion show, we laughed and celebrated together. Happy Black History Month!

This Black Mental Health Week, you don't want to miss what we have in store:

Introducing:

Digital Kuumba: Connecting Our Stories This special collaboration between TAIBU Community Health Centre and The Resemblage Project at the University of Toronto Scarborough brings together Black and racialized older adults to explore what it means to grow older — and to age well — through arts-based digital storytelling.

Through ten weeks of intergenerational workshops, participants engaged in writing, voice recording, and video editing to illuminate their lived experiences of aging. Rooted in Afrocentric values of knowledge exchange, the program fosters culturally embedded social wellness practices, community building, and shared learning.
