Just popping in to say hey 👋🏻 and share this reminder.

You don’t have to assign a story to every feeling you experience.

Not every signal that comes from within requires a narrative or an explanation for why it’s happening. Many of our feelings are circumstantial and don’t have a deeper story behind them.

A big cause of overthinking and story-making is underfeeling. Sometimes it’s better to simply feel the feeling and keep it pushing. Feelings are still valid when they don’t have a story attached to them.

Sometimes it’s better for us to let feelings do their thing without adding a story. Save yourself the story to save yourself the stress.

You can let feelings exist without investigating the deeper meaning.

In life and in relationships, there are no right or wrong decisions.

Life is just a series of choices made with emotion, intention, and action.

Ideally these choices are made with reason but there are rare moments that catch us off guard, change the course of our lives, and force us into a different way of doing things.

Getting trapped in analysis— or even waiting around for the right feeling to arrive — might just be ways we avoid facing a fundamental truth about life and hard choices:

We cannot afford to wait for things to align perfectly. We can only courageously face our uncertainty and hope that things fall into place.

Incredibly sad news for the therapy community and a profound loss for the world of relational health.

Rest in Wonder, Joy, and Connection, Sue. You taught us to hold each other tight. And that we will do. ❤️

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Sue Johnson, the pioneering force behind EFT. Her transformative work in therapy brought love, healing, and hope to countless lives. Her legacy will forever inspire us. We will "hold her tight" in our memories. Thank you Sue.

Hi everyone— just popping in to say hello. It’s been a while!

I’ve been away doing some important work offline. I’ve been speaking, travelling, and educating about the intersections of technology and wellbeing.

If you’ve been following my work and writing recently, you’ll know that I spend a great deal of time on this topic. Over the past two years, it has become a major focus of mine.

There’s something going on here. The way we are captured by our screens and phones is like nothing we’ve seen before. We could relate it to sugar or to***co, but in my view the digital stuff seems to have a wider reach and changes us in more complex ways.

We are only beginning to understand the impact that modern technology has on our wellbeing. It has changed my own relationship to the content I produce and how often I’m showing up online lately.

I hope you’ve all been keeping well. And I hope the time you spend offline has been with joy, presence, and attention to what’s important.

I’ll be back soon.

In today’s schools, hospitals, doctor’s offices, and therapy rooms, we are seeing the impacts of being constantly online. The adults who are raising and caring for today’s young people don’t have a common roadmap, highlighting the need for a collective therapeutic approach to managing screen use.

I’m building the new path forward— one that sets us free from the addictive power of apps and algorithms.

I’m excited to announce a new training opportunity in partnership with Sick Kids Centre for Community Mental Health!

Join me for a full day training about how to build better relationships with technology and with each other.

Details below. All are welcome to attend.
