Don't trust everything you see on a package!
🛍I've raided the drug store once again this time to test out Simple's Moisturizing Face Wash which has been rebranded to be 'clean' and gentle for all skin types.
⭐️The ingredients do not contain sulphates, which is a plus, but that does not mean other sulphate free cleansing agents aren't drying.... and throwing some panthenol at the end of the ingredient list (ahem Simple..) doesn't always work. 😜
has just released their Gentle Gel Face Wash which I just HAD to compare to see how it differs from a staple brand that has similar claims. 🎉
We can't always trust what we see on packaging!

The Clean Beauty School isn’t exactly a ‘school’ —at least in the formal sense of the word! There aren’t any exams, paper deadlines, or tuition fees for you to worry about (thank goodness!).
There are plenty of learning opportunities though via the blog, personalized tutoring sessions, and classes. We also bring together a tight-knit community of like-minded people who love discovering the latest clean beauty trends, whipping up DIY beauty recipes, and figuring out how to look bright-eyed and vibrant when in reality we’re all sleep deprived, over worked, and desperately in need of a vacation!
If you’re looking for a degree in cosmetology or how to become a master makeup artist, this isn’t the right place.
If you’re looking to ‘get smart’ about your skincare and beauty choices, to find out what products and routines work for your unique skin concerns using the cleanest, healthiest products available, then the Clean Beauty School is for you!
So, how did I get here? (Hi, I’m Seanna by the way!)
As a kid my ‘career’ interests changed many times —from artist, to archaeologist, chef, to hair stylist. While reading National Geographic and imagining myself trekking around the Egyptian pyramids, I was consulting my sisters on makeup choices and cutting my friends’ hair. You could say I was multi-passionate.
It wasn’t until years later, while in my late 20’s after pursing a career in history and museums, that I re-discovered my old passion of beauty care.
Up to this point I had struggled with sensitive skin, but never had I dealt with acne. Suddenly, I was getting painful breakouts all over my face and hormonally caused hyper-pigmentation, leaving me to wonder, what the heck is going on?
Cue the detective work. I looked at everything I was putting on my body (for years I was extremely loyal to the top department store brands). It was horrifying to see what ingredients were in these products. I wasn’t the only one to experience these sudden changes. I discovered that it’s very common for women at this age to develop skin issues because of hormonal changes caused by birth control pills, environment, or just the good ol’ aging process.
What started out as a quest to fix my own skin, became a mission to help others.
In 2014 while holding down a full-time job, I went back to school part-time to become a certified Skin Care Therapist. This was the best decision I could have ever made. It allowed me to work 1:1 with people giving holistic facials and skin care consults.
After the birth of my son in 2016, I needed to readjust my schedule and so I put aside my facial business to focus on spreading my message online. And here we are.
The Mission:
The Clean Beauty School is my way of sharing everything I know about skincare and clean beauty with you —and for you to share with me! I created this site as the one-stop-resource I wish I had back in 2012 when my journey had just begun.
If you’re like me, either you’re struggling with a new (or old) skin concern, or looking for help navigating the (often) confusing world of clean beauty products, you’ve come to the right place.
I hope you treat this as your home base. The place you keep coming back to in order to find answers to all of you clean beauty needs. Watch the videos, read the blog, book a skincare consult, and shop the products I’ve hand selected as the best on the market. Let’s get smart about our beauty!
