Hip flexor/anterior hip pain is not a joke.

Can you do hip flexor stretches, use a pso-r**e and massage gun everyday?

You could…

But imagine getting back 10-20 minutes a day from NOT doing those anymore.

Some would call me crazy… but the majority of my practice IS not teaching my clients how to do stretches…

YOU HAVE TO STOP OR IT'S GOING TO GET WORSE!!⁠

Sound familiar? ⁠

It has good intentions... but what if I said completely stopping your activity can lead to more problems down the road? ⁠

Why is that? I have to let my body rest and heal, right? ⁠

In some serious cases, yes.⁠

But most of the time, completely stopping your activity not only hinders your progress but can make you more afraid of pain. ⁠

I actually prefer to train in pain... HEAR ME OUT!⁠

I'm not saying to push through it, completely ignoring the signs.⁠

I'm saying to find a starting point whre you can still get an effective dose of training in without pi***ng off the sore spot. In our world, we call this "picking the scab".⁠

For example, do your knees hurt while performing a forward lunge? Try a variation like a reverse lunge. Try going slower. Try decreasing the range of motion. ⁠

Pain (the way I see it), is not something you can completely avoid (you shouldn't). Pain is information on how and where we should move next.

Not to say concerns for tightness or stiffness doesn’t matter…

But taking hard concepts and explaining the most important pieces in a way that helps a patient/client take action for themselves is 🔑

3 EXERCISES YOU ONLY NEED TO BE PAIN FREE

I kid.

But you’ll see that everywhere, right?

A short quick fix to all things. Of course we want things now. To get out of pain today, not tomorrow.

But know that pain is an essential for our survival.

If we couldn’t feel pain when we were babies, we would lose our hands once we touch a hot stove.

Pain is our body’s way of communicating.

“Fixing it” doesn’t allow us to embrace pains unique ability to let us know what’s going on around us.

If you can change the way you think about pain, I know you’ll be free from doing all the rehab exercises in the world. You will be someone who relies less on someone else to “fix pain” for you, and not only will it save you time, money, but also make you that much more in tune and confident in your own body.

Trust your body again! KNOW PAIN.

The task itself stays the same…

The weight on the bar stays the same…

The work you need to do stays the same…

But you can evolve.

You can change the way how you handle it.

You can change how you view challenges.

Will you see it as a road block or an opportunity?

As you practice putting yourself in these positions, you’re only going to get better at them.

And soon, what was once daunting will now be something that’s just part of you.

Growth comes from taking constant, uncertain action. It’s the harder route, but more likely the better route for the new and improved future you.

Go get it ! And don’t forget to smell the flowers 💪💪🙏🙏

A jelly donut is a jelly donut.

But an intervertebral disc thrives off of forces that push on it. Because like all healthy joints, tendons, bone and muscles these forces help bring oxygen and nutrients into it keeping them alive and well.

But the biggest battle is the one inside our head.

Elphaba loves to be there when we take a first step in anything.

Elphaba loves to talk doubt into our ears when we feel like we’re making progress.

Elphaba will always have something to say to make us resistant to continuing our journey.

Elphaba, whether we like it or not, is here to stay as long as we strive for the next level in our growth.
