10 years 💙

This week we’re celebrating someone who has been a constant, caring presence at Bayview Rehabilitation for a decade — our wonderful Physiotherapy Assistant, Anahid.

She shows up every day with warmth, dedication and the kind of quiet professionalism that makes everything better. We are so grateful she’s part of our family.
Anahid — thank you for 10 incredible years 🙏🌿

Please join us in congratulating her below! ⬇️

“Just rest it.”

It’s one of the most common pieces of advice people hear after an injury.

And while rest can help in the early stages, it’s rarely the full solution.

Here’s why:

1️⃣ The root cause doesn’t go away

Pain often comes from how your body is moving — not just the injury itself.

2️⃣ Muscles and joints can become weaker

Too much rest can lead to stiffness, reduced strength and slower recovery.

3️⃣ Returning to activity too quickly can restart the cycle

Without proper rehab, the same issue often comes back.

Recovery isn’t just about stopping pain — it’s about restoring movement, strength and confidence.

That’s where guided physiotherapy makes the difference.

Sometimes the body sends signals before pain becomes a bigger problem.

Here are three common signs we see that may mean it’s time to see a physiotherapist:

1️⃣ Pain that keeps coming back
If discomfort improves but repeatedly returns, the underlying issue may not have been addressed.

2️⃣ Stiffness that limits movement
Difficulty reaching overhead, turning your neck, or bending comfortably can indicate joint or muscle restrictions.

3️⃣ Pain during everyday activities
Climbing stairs, lifting groceries, or sitting at your desk shouldn’t cause persistent discomfort.

Early assessment often makes treatment simpler and recovery quicker.

If something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth having it checked.

Not sure what to expect at your first physiotherapy appointment?

Many people delay seeking care simply because they’re unsure what the process looks like.

At Bayview Rehabilitation, your first visit is focused on understanding your concerns and creating a plan that works for you.

Here’s what typically happens:

1️⃣ We start with a conversation.
We listen carefully to your symptoms, history, and goals.

2️⃣ We assess how your body moves.
Movement patterns often tell us more than imaging alone.

3️⃣ We explain what’s going on.
Clear, straightforward explanations — no confusing medical jargon.

4️⃣ We build a personalized plan.
Your treatment plan is designed around your lifestyle, schedule, and goals.

Our goal is simple — to help you move better, feel better, and return to the activities that matter to you.

You don’t have to wait until the pain is unbearable.

One of the biggest misconceptions we see in our community is that physiotherapy is only for serious injuries.

Most people actually come in with:
• shoulder tightness that won’t go away
• back stiffness after long days
• knee discomfort on stairs
• recurring headaches
• something that just feels off

The earlier we assess it, the easier it is to address.

At Bayview Rehabilitation, our focus isn’t just short-term relief.
It’s understanding why it started and helping prevent it from coming back.

If something feels different, don’t ignore it.

Small warnings are easier to manage than big setbacks.

Welcome to the team, Niha Fitter 👋✨

Niha is a Resident Physiotherapist joining our team. She takes a wholistic, patient centred approach making sure patients feel safe, involved in their care and well educated about their concerns.

She has a keen interest in orthopaedic and sports injuries and her approach is influenced by the biopsychosocial model and how the neuromuscular system impacts movement and recovery.

In addition to physiotherapy practice, Niha is an international yoga instructor. Her clinical toolkit includes manual therapy, exercise-based neuromuscular management, patient education and electrotherapeutic modalities, tailored to individual goals and function.

Niha is excited to support the Bayview Rehabilitation community and help patients return to the activities that matter most to them.
