Guess what? It's Saturday night, and I've made you an impromptu freebie 🧡 [link in bio]

Yesterday, on my stories, I was comparing breastfeeding to the labor and delivery. Both activities are considered physiological, but while you get preventative continued care with a specialist throughout pregnancy and childbrith, you are left to your own luck when it comes to breastfeeding 🤔

Since then, my phone started showing me inspirational flashcards for those preparing to deliver a baby. Great, beautiful, empowering ones! (Does your phone hear you too?? 🤯)

I then browsed for breastfeeding affirmation cards (thinking of yesterday's convo) and...guess what? They did not pass the vibe check AT ALL 😭. The general take was: "You're still a good mom". I mean, that's hardly good enough.

But hey, I took the matter in my own hands and made you beautiful, empowering breastfeeding inspirational cards for you to display around and get that motivation going. That's what happens on Saturday nights when you love your job 😅

Please tag your pregnant friends and breasties 🤰🤱 and let me know what you think.

🇧🇷 Para quem quer se preparar além do pensamento positivo, proxima aula pré-natal está chegando. Pré-inscrição na bio. Vagas limitadas abrem na segunda, 21 de agosto

Although recommendations are very individualized, here are a few things for you to have in mind:
- In the early days, focus on the breastfeeding technique and avoid getting anything in the way of you and baby.
- Offer baby two sides before extracting milk. You want baby to drink as much as possible from you.
- If you are not dealing with oversupply, and wish to gradually build a milk stash, you may use a silicone collector on the breast you started to feed on when baby is drinking on your second side to collect the leftover milk letdown.
- Be aware that even passive milk collection may trigger over supply and clogged ducts.

What have you heard about haaka pumps?

Cluster feeding is a period of frequent feeds broken by short bursts of sleep that can last several hours.

It’s natures way of boosting you milk supply. It helps to bring your milk in, in the early days and increases supply during growth spurts.

It often occurs in the late afternoon, aka witching hour, but can happen at any time.

Some babies will settle down for a longer stretch of sleep after a clusterfeeding session is done.

Cluster feeding is normal, but can be exhausting. Being prepared and having realistic expectations can help you during clusterfeeding periods.

- Make yourself comfortable: get into your favorite bf position, have your phone, charger, snacks and water close by and get ready for some binge worthy tv.
- Remember clusterfeeding periods are temporary and a great way to protect your milk supply and baby's growth.

You’ve got this 🧡💪

I lost count of how many times I've answered questions about all those buttons on breastpumps, so I've decided to make a post with my top 3 instructions for you.

I wish pumps were more intuitive, but some models can be quite intimidating, right? Don't you worry, I've got you covered!
Swipe and save as a reminder. And be that breastie that spreads the good info around.

What's your favorite pump setting? I did not think there was such thing until I saw a mom dancing to her pump (suction) beat 😎

If you are pregnant and/or parenting a little in a Canadian or US area where air quality has significantly deteriorated, please consider reducing exposure to air pollutants and monitoring symptoms:
✴️ Avoid outdoor activities with your little if possible
✴️ Stay home with doors and windows closed if the temperature is comfortable.
✴️ Consider using air conditioning and an air purifier
✴️ Alternatively, find a place in your community with clean, cool air such as a library, shopping mall, or community center.
✴️ If you must spend time outdoors, a well-fitted respirator-type mask can help reduce your exposure to fine particles in smoke. But remember, infants under 2 years old shouldn't wear a mask.
⚠️ Watch out for difficulty breathing, airway irritation, wheezing, severe cough, dizziness, chest pains, and worsening of pre-existing heart and respiratory conditions. And seek healthcare if needed.

Despite parental exposure to air pollution being related to increased breastmilk concentrations of pollutants, studies have confirmed that breastmilk's protective effects outweigh its potential health risk to the infant.

♻️ During an air pollution crisis, protect yourself from air pollution exposure as much as possible, eat healthier, and breastfeed!
