Did you know that seeing a pelvic floor physiotherapist before you give birth can actually support a smoother delivery? ✨

Evidence suggests that pelvic floor muscle training programs during pregnancy are linked to shorter labour times and a lower risk of perineal trauma.

Your pelvic floor physiotherapist will help you understand your body, teach you how to connect to your deep core, and guide you through gentle preparation techniques that make a difference when it matters most.

Because preparing your body before birth isn’t just about strength. It’s about confidence, calm, and feeling ready for what’s ahead. 💕

Let us help you support your body through this next chapter. Book your visit today.

Recently had a C-section?!?!

Congratulations!

Here are some recovery tips to help you heal faster and feel your best:

📍REST! Even if you feel amazing, take the time to let your body heal
📍Keep your incision scar clean, but avoid direct massage on the tissue until the scar is healed
📍Mentally unpack the feelings around your c-section. All feelings, even the icky ones, are valid and need to be processed.
📍Pay attention to the words you use to describe your experience and body! Cesarean births should be celebrated! If you are finding this challenging for you, try using objective, observational words instead of judgemental or comparative ones.

Once you have given yourself permission to heal physically and emotionally, your pelvic floor physiotherapist will be here to support you through postpartum rehabilitation, abdominal rehabilitation, scar massage, and more!

Book your postpartum reassessment ahead of time so you can rest assured knowing that Vital Physiotherapy’s got your back!

Did you know that research shows prenatal massage and reflexology can:
✨Reduce stress and anxiety
✨Improve circulation and lymphatic flow
✨Help with swelling
✨Contribute to better sleep and relaxation

Reflexology points on the feet correspond to different systems in the body, so deep pressure on certain zones is generally avoided until the later stages of your pregnancy.

Your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) will tailor the treatment to your needs, always keeping safety top of mind.

If you’re looking to pamper yourself, book your prenatal massage at Vital today!

Vaginismus is the involuntary spasming of the pelvic floor muscles in response to vaginal pe*******on. It’s more common than many people realize, and yet it’s often misunderstood, under-discussed, and surrounded by silence.

Our clients' experiences are varied. Some examples are those who had a pain experience as a teen when trying to use a tampon for the first time. Others had an experience where a Pap smear had to be stopped because it was just too painful. While, for some, in*******se is painful and feels challenging.

You are not broken.
This is not your fault.
You don’t have to live with this forever.

It is estimated that vaginismus affects 1–7% of women globally, but this number is likely underreported due to stigma, shame, and many women simply not knowing that help is available.

Here at Vital, we see you. We talk about this with honesty, compassion, and zero judgment and then support you with the tools to live painfree.

When you’re ready to start your journey toward healing your vaginismus, know that you don’t have to do it alone.

We are here to help you gain confidence and feel empowered in your body again.

Let’s help you reconnect with your body, build confidence, and move toward a future with less fear and more freedom.

Waking up at night to p*e might just seem like an annoyance, but if it’s happening regularly, it can take a real toll on your sleep, your energy, and your overall well-being.

The medical term nighttime waking to urinate is nocturia, and yes, it is both common and treatable.

If waking at night to urinate is a new issue for you, your first stop should be your doctor to review your medications, fluid intake, and overall health. But, if you’ve already ruled those out, or if this has been going on for a while, here are three simple strategies our clients use to see massive improvements:

→ Keep a Fluid Diary: Track what, when, and how much you drink for a few days. Aim for enough water during the day and cut back on caffeine, alcohol, and fluids close to bedtime.
→ Practice Better Sleep Hygiene: Stick to a bedtime routine, avoid screens before bed, and create a cool, dark space to improve sleep and reduce unnecessary wake-ups.
→ Train Your Bladder to Wait: When you wake with the need to urinate in the middle of the night, see if you can pause for 10 minutes, breathe, and let the feeling settle over time, this can help retrain your bladder.

If your bladder is waking you at night because you can’t hold in your urine or your need to urinate often feels urgent, your pelvic floor and nervous system are playing a role in your symptoms.

Our pelvic floor physiotherapist will support you to retrain your muscles so your muscles optimally perform their important roles- like keeping you dry and sleeping through the night!

One of the biggest myths we hear?

“If I didn’t have a vaginal birth, I don’t need pelvic physio.”

The truth? A C-section doesn’t mean your pelvic floor wasn’t impacted.

Pregnancy alone places a huge load on your pelvic floor, diaphragm, abdominals, and back muscles, no matter how you deliver.

Plus, Cesarean birth is major abdominal surgery.

Your body goes through significant changes that benefit from rehab, scar massage, and mobility support.

Even if you didn’t push, your core system still worked overtime.

Every postpartum body deserves care. Yes, even after a C-section.

Let’s help you heal fully. Vital’s here to support you, every step of the way.

We’ve all had that sudden urge to p*e that feels urgent and painful.

The burning, the pressure… your first thought? “Great, another UTI.”

But if your tests keep coming back negative, your pelvic floor muscles might actually be the cause.

Your pelvic floor muscles sit at the base of your pelvis and support your urethra, bladder, and vaginal and re**al canals.

When these muscles are tight or overactive, they can cause pain around the bladder and urethra mimicking UTI symptoms.

If you’re experiencing urinary frequency, pelvic or bladder pain, and you know it’s not a UTI, pelvic floor physiotherapy might be the missing piece.

Let’s find out what’s really going on. Book an assessment with our team at Vital Physiotherapy today.

Think pelvic health issues only affect older women or new moms? Think again.

Pelvic floor symptoms can show up at any age from period pain and painful tampon insertion to leaking when you sneeze or run. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to live this way.

The stats are clear - 48% of young women report pain with s*x, 65.7% of female athletes leak urine during training and 25% of healthy young women can’t activate their pelvic floor muscles properly.

What’s worse? Only 35% ever seek help and just 6% book an appointment for s*xual function.

You don’t need to stop laughing, lifting, or living. You just need the right support.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy can help and it's never too early or too late to ask for it.
