If you have ever questioned your posture, you are not alone!

And no, you are not doing anything wrong. You’re just tuning in to something your body has probably been trying to tell you for a while.

Let’s talk about posture.

Posture, otherwise known as the alignment of your neck, spine, shoulders and pelvis, is a frequent topic of interest during physiotherapy and massage therapy sessions.

But that doesn’t mean it’s always EASY to understand.

Your posture plays a big role in how you move and feel. This is especially true if you're dealing with things like low or mid-back pain, pelvic discomfort, incontinence, diastasis recti, or prolapse symptoms. So yes, it does matter but not in the rigid, “shoulders back, stand-up-straight” way we were taught as kids.

We are not aiming for perfection. We’re aiming for a position that is adaptable, sustainable, and kind-to-your-body during rest and movement. That means moving in and out of postures with ease and making space to shift and adjust depending on what your day asks of you.

You don’t need to fix everything all at once. Just start small. One breath, one moment, one check-in at a time. Your body is incredibly smart, and it wants to feel good. You’re just learning how to listen to it a little more closely.

We’ve all been there.

Suddenly you have the urge to p*e RIGHT NOW. And it happens often, and when you go, it burns or hurts!

For many women, our first thought is “great, another UTI.”

While UTIs are a common challenge, did you know that these symptoms can also be caused by your pelvic floor muscles?

If you find yourself having UTI symptoms and yet you’re coming back negative on UTI testing, we have good news! Pelvic floor physiotherapy can help!

Your pelvic floor muscles sit like a basket at the bottom of your pelvis, connecting your tailbone to your p***c bone and support your vaginal canal, re**al canal, and your urethra. These muscles control your bladder and bowel function, so if there are any issues with your pelvic floor muscles, this can cause pain around your urethra and bladder, which can mimic UTI symptoms!

Dealing with tight or overactive muscles is a big part of what we do here at Vital Physiotherapy!

If you are experiencing chronic pelvic or bladder pain, urinary frequency, or other UTI symptoms without an active infection, book an assessment to find out how we can help you change your life!

What your body goes through during pregnancy and recovery postpartum is nothing short of a miracle!

Healing from pregnancy and birth isn’t about fitting back into your skinny jeans.

Physically, your uterus must return to its original size, your internal organs must return to their original position inside your body, and your scar tissue must heal. It can take around 12 weeks for all of this to happen.

The FASTEST and most EFFECTIVE way to heal postpartum is to do it SLOWLY, allow your body the time it needs.

You are whole perfect and complete exactly as you are. Sometimes your body just needs a little support to recover- and that's exactly what we do over here at Vital Physiotherapy and Wellness!

Finally, that 6 week postpartum mark arrived. I was anxious to get my body back & feel like myself again.

I remember my first postpartum experience like it was yesterday. I counted down the days until I was cleared to go to the gym.

💭’If everyone else could do it, I was going to do it too’💭

I had no idea what to expect, or how I'd swing it, but I 💪 Was 💪 Determined 💪
And I tried hard❕

😮‍💨 When I wanted to sleep, I exercised anyway
😮‍💨 When my back hurt, I pushed to get “strong”
😮‍💨I was tired all. The. time.

Overwhelm crept in as I tried to figure out motherhood & navigate a body that I didn’t recognize.

I wasn’t going to let myself “go” or give up on me...but I wasn't getting the results I wanted 😓
I didn’t realize I was making a far too common mistake. It was setting me back & leaving me feeling broken.

I didn’t know…
🌸 How to effectively build strength from the inside out
🌸 How to love & lead my body back to her strong & capable self rather than taking her on like a battle to be won
🌸 Or what small, attainable steps would be most effective for me..more effective than an hour in the gym 🤯

This isn’t just my story, it’s the story I hear from so many of the mothers I treat.

✨You CAN realistically retrain your abs & rebuild your foundation 🧱
✨You CAN return to the activities you love pain, prolapse & leak free 🙌
✨You CAN confidently feel like yourself again💗

I want you to experience this too. That’s why I’m inviting you to our webinar on Thursday, August 14th at 8:00PM:

✨WHAT IS PELVIC HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY? ✨

Pelvic health physiotherapy is the first line of defence for individuals experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction. Pelvic pain and dysfunction impact a person’s well-being and quality of life, making pelvic physiotherapy a vital service.

Pelvic floor physiotherapists are Registered Physiotherapists who are specially trained to use internal (vaginal and re**al) hands-on techniques to provide the gold-standard method of pelvic floor muscle evaluation and treatment. When the pelvic floor muscles are assessed and treated this way the results are readily apparent.

So many of our clients come in for labour and delivery prep, knowing they are exactly where they should be, but don’t know what’s to come.

We got you! 💪🏼

Here is the 411 on what to expect when you’re expecting, from a pelvic health physiotherapy lens!

Pregnancy is like a running a marathon, and just like athletes would train for the race, expecting mothers should also train and prepare for the big event.

Whether you’re delivering by vaginal birth or by cesarian birth, it is important to know your body, prepare it for delivery and have the information to support you during the process and postpartum.

Pelvic floor physiotherapists are trained to assess the external and internal pelvic floor muscles.

There are tools and techniques, tip and tricks that can be used during labour and delivery, to support you, baby and your pelvic floor.

These things include prep work that can be done in advance like perineal massage, breathing techniques and pelvic relaxation exercises

If you’re ready to start your pelvic floor journey, book an appointment at the link in bio today!
