Strengthening Public Protection

The College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) is the regulatory body for medical radiation and imaging technologists in Ontario. Medical radiation and imaging technologists are regulated health professionals under Ontario’s Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, and work within five specialties: radiography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and diagnostic medical sonography.

The CMRTO protects the public by establishing standards of practice for the profession, setting entry to practice requirements for and ensuring the continued competence of medical radiation and imaging technologists, and addressing concerns from members of the public through the complaints and discipline process.
