Hello. Just wanted to share some third shot information. I did a little search this week to try and figure out how / where to get a third shot in order to allow as much time as possible before school starts.

My health unit (Halton) was not very helpful although the vaccination site supervisor said she was working on it.

I ended up driving to the Pinebush Vaccination centre in Cambridge and was able to get a third without any issue. It was a seamless operation. Iโ€™d had my shot within 5 minutes of walking in the front door and was out after 20 minutes (inc 15 min post waiting period).

If you are feeling anxious or like you need to get it ASAP thatโ€™s a great option. They had both Pfizer and Moderna options and were matching your second shot.

I hope everyone is well. Be safe. Take care.
From Isaac Williams - Great job Heartlinks team. Lets keep STEPING. See you all at the next challenge.

God Bless

I just got home from just shy of 5k, and half way it started pouring rain. I would personally like to thank my surgeons for their use of Titanium and Stainless Steel. After drying off and carefully checking I had absolutely no rust! :P I didn't stop to take a picture as I wanted to get out of my wet clothes, but this is very close to what I looked like! Let's go Pedominators! :P (Oh, and I have an app and was checking. The closest lightning strike was 4k away!)

Kudoboard for Stella Kozuszko | Kudoboard

Hello HeartLinks member,

By now, most of us have heard the news of Stella's new opportunity with PMCC and MEDLY. If not, please see the announcement below. While we're excited for her to take on these new challenges, we also would like to recognize and thank her for the incredible support and love she gave each one of us.

While we would have loved to thank her in person, we're obviously still in a virtual world. That's OK, we have an idea where each one of us can share a personal note that she can keep for many years to come.

HeartLinks has created a Kudoboard for Stella. A Kudoboard is essentially a virtual bulletin board of your messages, and even pictures or videos that you would like to share. It will take just a few minutes of your time, however leave a lasting memory for Stella.

Obviously, there is no pressure to participate and is completely volountary. However, if you would like to leave Stella a note, we would love for you to include a few words.

Itโ€™s super simple. I have attached a link below. All you need to do is click on it. Then attach your message. You are more than welcome to add a photo or a video or a GIF - however that is not required. These are merely options.

It is customizable to what you would like to include. Multiple members of a family can post separate messages, but please only one message per person.

We will be sending Stella a virtual copy of this Kudoboard on September 1st and also present her a printed copy for her to keep.

I am sure that this will bring a huge smile to Stella's face, and probably some giggles and tears of joy as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you all. Letโ€™s get started!

[07/23/21]   Message from Stella:

Hello HeartLinks members,

It is with mixed emotions that after 34 yrs in transplant; 21 of those years in heart transplant, I am announcing that I will be stepping down as the nurse practitioner for the heart transplant program. This has been a decision that I have been thinking about over the past year or so and feel now is the right time to make this change. I have decided to transition into a new role at UHN. I will be joining PMCC and working with MEDLY and virtual care initiative with Dr. Heather Ross. This is a great opportunity for me and I am very excited about this opportunity. We are very excited to welcome Jill Quance into the role of NP in the heart transplant program. Jill comes from the Liver Transplant program. She brings tremendous experience to our program. She has been at UHN since 1992 and in the liver transplant program since 1997. I am personally very excited because Jill and I have known each other for almost our entire careers. We have similar goals and aspirations for our transplant recipients. She looks forward to getting to know you all and to work with you as part of your team.
Over the next several weeks I will be transitioning into my new role with MEDLY and Jill into her new role in the heart transplant program. We ask for your patience as we make this transition. We are hopeful that it will be smooth for all of you.

Now, this is the toughest part of this message. Thank you to all of you who I have had the honor to care for. I have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude to have been a part of your transplant journey. My career has been so rich having you all in my life. To all of our caregivers and support people, thank you for teaching me about commitment and dedication. I will continue with my commitment to HeartLinks and will continue to facilitate your efforts. I look forward to extending our relationship through Heart Links. This is not good bye, but rather see you later. I am looking forward to watching this program grow and excited to see it continue to be the best transplant program.

Have a great summer

Stella
