Lets go Sole City Wakers! Hope everyone is taking it slow this weekend 🎾
Took the dog for a walk to complete my steps for the day for the @heartlinksgroup Step Together Challenge. Did three other workouts today, it was a busy day. Thanks to @ajmeratransplantcentreuhn @trilliumgift for Giving me my New Heart.
Go Team The Beat Goes On.
Warm-up this morning on my treadmill before my zoom personal training session with Dynamic Bodies. I would have loved to have taken a snapshot during training, but don't know how to yet. Uh😠
I just got home from just shy of 5k, and half way it started pouring rain. I would personally like to thank my surgeons for their use of Titanium and Stainless Steel. After drying off and carefully checking I had absolutely no rust! :P I didn't stop to take a picture as I wanted to get out of my wet clothes, but this is very close to what I looked like! Let's go Pedominators! :P (Oh, and I have an app and was checking. The closest lightning strike was 4k away!)

🌺 International Nurses Day Week 2021🌺
Happy Saturday Heart Links friends, hope you are enjoying your day so far.
Did anyone take a selfie after you received your first or second vaccine? The Q&A Covid-19 vaccine Group at Toronto General Hospital is looking for photos of people that were taken after they received their vaccine to help promote transplant patients to get their vaccines. Some patients are still a little hesitant in getting one. They will be making a collage out of the photos sent to show how many people have already received their vaccines.
If you want to be included you can pm me your photo and I can send it to them.
Thank you
Hi Everybody:

I just received my first Covid vaccine yesterday at TGH. I will receive my second dose on April 6th. I can't thank enough all the Doctors and Nurses who have helped me since I got my new heart on June 24th, 2015, and have taken care of me for the past 5 1/2 years. You will always have a special place in my life and in my heart. I don't post often but I just had to this time. Take care and have a great day.

Welcome to HeartLinks Online! We are a support group of heart transplant patients out of The Toronto General Hospital. This groups page has been created for the members of the group, their family and friends and anyone else who is interested.

Over the years, we have held numerous social events and raised a significant amount of money for heart transplantation research at Toronto General Hospital. We invite you to post a message. Please feel free to share your thoughts, concerns and comments. The site does require that you create a Yahoo Id but you can continue to use your present email to receive notices from the group. We hope you enjoy your visit!

Before we go on and announce Week #3 Winners, I think it is important for us to say a handful of Thank You's as we embark on our final week.

THANK YOU TO ...

-All the captains who keep their team motivated, initialized interactions and are helping make HeartLinks' first ever Step Together Challenge a great success.
-Those who spread the word about this awesome event on social media. You know who you are and we do too. Hot off the Press! We even made it on the "UHN on the GO" June 2021 News! Keep reading for the link to the article.
-Michelle, who has provided our inspirational quotes every week
-Heather, who manages FB and Instagram social media accounts
-Darko, Shelly, Eddie and Natalie for leading this event
-Kyle, new recipient who came up with the HeartLinks Step Together Challenge name
-Our Heart Transplant Medical Staff, I don't think there is any other group at TGH who would have had 12 staff join this event and cheer us on while participating by our side.
-Our family & friends who join us as we, heart recipients, strive to have healthy lifestyles.
-Most important, to our ALL THE PARTICIPANTS! You took the chance and said "YES!" to our first ever HeartLinks Step Together Challenge. With all of you, we were able to motivate one another and strive to be our best while pushing our own individual limits.

Finally here are the Week #3 Stats and Winners!

We walked 7,687,163 steps together during the third week. To put this into perspective, with over 21,000,000 steps achieved together since the beginning of the challenge, we have collectively walked from Toronto General Hospital to Mount Everest! So exciting! Just got the shivers 😉

Let's see where our final destination will be!

A group of heart transplant recipients and healthcare providers at the University Health Network are coming together to compete in a virtual step challenge, encouraging physical activity during the #COVID19 pandemic.

"COVID-19 has been difficult for all, but especially those who are immunocompromised," says Darko Zlatanoski, a heart transplant recipient and creator of the challenge. “Other than following instructions from our transplant team, exercising is one of the few things we can control."
