🍂 With fall, creeping up on us, take advantage and spend time in nature as much as you can - it can be great for your immune health!

🌳 The term “forest bathing” originates from a Japanese practice that has been used for centuries
to help reduce stress and anxiety.

🌳 Forest bathing has been gaining popularity as more studies being done have shown the
therapeutic effects forest bathing can have on the immune system.
Researchers have determined that spending time in nature helps improve immune response by increasing natural T cell production.

🌳 Ayurveda & Yoga greatly emphasis on the power of nature for enhancement of wellbeing, the three divine quality of Prana, Tejas & Ojas that are found in abundance in forest through the plant kingdom.

🌳Prana, Tejas & Ojas presence helps you to process your thoughts, feelings and experiences thus reducing the daily impact of stress.

🌳 Get out in nature, take your shoes off and walk around while breathing in nature’s benefits as
often as you can!

Capsaicin in Ayurveda: The Spicy Secret to Balance
Capsaicin, the fiery component in chili peppers, offers more than just heat. Through Ayurveda, it
can help balance your doshas and boost your overall health.

🌶️ Capsaicin and the Doshas:
• Pitta Dosha : Use sparingly to avoid aggravating Pitta, which can lead to heat-related
issues like acidity.

metabolism.

🌶️ Benefits of Capsaicin:
1. Boosts Digestion : Enhances Agni (digestive fire) for better digestion and
metabolism.
2. Clears Congestion : Relieves respiratory issues by clearing nasal passages.
3. Improves Circulation : Increases blood flow, helping with cold hands and feet.
4. Pain Relief : Topically relieves pain from arthritis and muscle soreness.
5. Supports Weight Management : Boosts metabolism and helps control appetite.

🌶️Embrace the Heat

Did you know that watermelon is not a fruit but a vegetable?

Watermelon is a cousin of the cucumber!
It is valued in Ayurveda for its extraordinary hydrating and cooling properties.

Here’s why you should savor this classic summer treat:

🍉 Benefits of Watermelon:
1. Cooling Effect Reduce excess heat and pacify Pitta dosha with watermelon’s
natural cooling properties.
2. Hydration Stay hydrated with watermelon’s high water content, perfect for preventing
rise in pitta.
3. Detoxification Flush out toxins and support kidney function with watermelon’s mild
diuretic properties.
4. Aids Digestion Get loads of fibre from watermelon to help prevent constipation...just
don’t eat too much!
5. Supports Healthy Weight Management Enjoy a low-calorie, hydrating snack that
keeps you feeling full without the extra calories.
6. Rich in Antioxidants and Vitamins Benefit from antioxidants and vitamins like
lycopene, vitamin C, A, and B6, which fight free radicals and reduce inflammation.

🍉 How to Enjoy Watermelon:
• Eat Alone or Before Meals: Helps with optimal digestion.
• Best Time to Eat: During midday, especially in the summer.
• Avoid at Night: To prevent digestive discomfort.
• Balance with Warming Spices: For Vata and Kapha, add a pinch of black pepper or
ginger.

📌Considerations and Precautions**

While watermelon is generally beneficial, Ayurveda advises moderation in its consumption, especially for individuals with Vata & Kapha dosha imbalances, as excessive intake can lead to symptoms like heaviness, bloated, gas and increased mucus production.

It is also recommended to avoid consuming watermelon with dairy products or late at night to prevent digestive issues.

Festival food trucks, patio pub fare, and double scoops on waffle cones – summer can really do
a number on our stomachs if we give in too often to its delicious temptations.

On those days you overindulge, ease indigestion with a refreshing glass of mint-infused water.
In Ayurveda, mint water is valued for its cooling, soothing, and digestive properties. Mint, known
as “Pudina” in Sanskrit, is an aromatic herb that is often used to balance the Pitta dosha, which
is associated with heat and intensity.

👏🏽 Benefits of Mint Water:
• Cooling Effect
Balance excess Pitta dosha and beat the heat with this refreshing drink.

• Aids Digestion
Soothe your digestive system, relieve bloating, and improve digestion.

• Detoxifies the Body
Flush out toxins and promote healthy liver function for clearer skin and vitality.

• Reduces Stress and Calms the Mind
Enjoy the calming effect on your mind, reducing stress and anxiety.

• Boosts Hydration
Stay hydrated in a delicious and refreshing way, especially in hot weather.

• Supports Respiratory Health
Open respiratory passages and relieve symptoms of colds and allergies.

👍🏽 Keep a pitcher of water and mint leaves in the fridge, with some lemon and lime slices. Stir once a day for 2 or 3 days until the flavours have infused and enjoy.

our brains — young or adult — are designed to respond to gentle oscillation. In Ayurveda & Yoga it’s called as Julna a rocking rhythmical movement that builds prana and reduces Vata thus decreasing anxiety, worry, and restlessness.

It turns out there’s a reason we rock babies to sleep - and we may want to start applying that soothing rocking motion to our own sleep.

New studies show that gentle rocking has incredible benefits on our sleep and brains:
aids in falling asleep quickly
extends the period of deeper sleep
prevents premature waking
improves memory retention

If you can’t find someone to rock you to sleep, try a hammock next time you have a nap!

If you have a chronic sleep disturbances and would like to consult one of our team members for an Ayurvedic Assessment call or text 416-233-2049
