Let’s clear something up.

Social workers sometimes get a bad rap when it comes to therapy — like they’re somehow “less than” psychologists or psychotherapists. But the truth is: their approach is just different. And for a lot of people, that difference makes all the difference.

All social workers at TPC are trained, licensed, and educated — just like other clinicians — and they bring a lens that’s rooted in real-world experience. They’ve worked in hospitals, shelters, schools, crisis lines — in the thick of it.

While psychology might ask if you see the glass as half full or half empty, social work might ask:
“Do you know the glass is refillable? And who’s keeping you from the tap?”

Social workers don’t just help you talk through things — they help you understand the systems at play, advocate for yourself, and take action when you’re ready.

Social work therapy is human-first, trauma-informed, and grounded in equity.

If you’ve ever felt unseen or misunderstood in therapy — it might be time to try something different.

💬👇What questions do you have about social work therapy? Drop them below — let’s get the conversation started!

Or leave a 👍 in the comments if you agree that social workers are just as awesome as other therapists!

✂️ You were focused… then the story got juicy… and oops—there goes a little too much hair. 😅

If you’ve ever cut more than you meant to because a client was dropping a full life story mid-appointment, you’re not alone.

People treat hairstylists like therapists all the time. And while it’s amazing that your clients feel safe with you, it’s also a lot to carry—especially when you’re not trained to take that on.

💡 You can be kind and supportive and still protect your energy. Setting boundaries doesn’t make you less caring—it makes your care more sustainably.

💬 Hairstylists: ever had a “therapy session” in your chair that left you emotionally drained (or accidentally snipping too much)? Tell us how you handle those moments 👇

Psst… clients, we love that you feel comfy opening up—but friendly reminder: it’s OK to vent and still honour boundaries. Let’s not turn every safe person into our therapist. ❤️

💥 Angry? It’s not a bad thing.

What is bad for your relationships is pretending you’re not angry… or exploding because you never gave yourself time to cool off.

This post is for anyone who’s ever said something in the heat of the moment and regretted it later (aka, all of us).

Learning to pause before reacting isn’t weakness—it’s a strength. And it’s one that can completely change the way you communicate. 🧠💛

➡️ Swipe through for practical ways to take space without avoiding the hard stuff.

What’s helped you cool off without shutting down? Tell us in the comments 💬
