🧐 There has been a lot of confusion lately on what a PSW can/can’t do in terms of ✨light house keeping✨ vs when it is time to hire a housekeeper…
At the initial meet and greet with me, expectations on assistance with light housekeeping are discussed.. washing walls and windows, sweep/mop/vac each floor/room, cleaning multiple bathrooms and dusting is unrealistic in a typical PSW visit and would fall under hiring a housekeeper. Without laundry OR care, the listed items would easily take an experienced housekeeper (and with no care/respite) several hours.
What PSWs CAN do per OPSWA: dishes, laundry, sweep/mop/vac floors. This can read vague, but it acts as a guideline to the limitations of our scope, and better informs clients/client families. PSWs are expected to first and foremost provide care, comfort, companionship and be the eyes and ears for loved ones that cannot be there themselves. A limited amount of light housekeeping can and will be provided if and when time allots it. Light housekeeping duties are also completed if and when the care for the client is completed and/or safe to do so.
❗️Please note that arrangements should be made ahead of time to allow for a longer scheduled visit to complete care, laundry, and light housekeeping if needed.
Ps - laundry, dishes, light housekeeping is to be only directly done for the client 😅
Thanks for understanding 🩷
