I’ve got a personal meal prep and food tip for you today to help make your mealtimes a little easier .
For my family, the keys to stress-free mealtimes are advanced prep and a meal plan so we know what’s for dinner ahead of time as much as possible.
And I’m going to break down how I do it!

Before I grocery shop, I look for sales and decide on which upcoming nights will need the easiest meals.
I grocery shop based on the meals I decided (and sometimes this will change while shopping if there’s something on for a good deal!)
I prepare as much in advance as I can – peeling, chopping, batch cooking, etc… and I organize in my fridge/pantry so it’s easy to see and grab.

Once I made the above my routine ( and it took a LOT of trial and error ) meals were no longer stressful. We save money by using the groceries we bought and eating out less and I don’t need to use much brain power on “what’s for dinner” anymore!

Focused breathing is a great tool to use when you're feeling stressed, confused, overwhelmed etc....
Often, when training clients, I have to remind them to breathe. Which sounds insane, I know! But a common quirk us humans have is to hold our breath when something is hard, heavy or stressful. We tense up and forget to use our breathing to regulate ourselves.

I love this focused breathing practice and find it helps in so many situations, not just working out!

I have been on the “All or Nothing” ride and if I look back, it got me a lot of Nothing! 😞
Be honest with yourself…you’re probably dizzy from the circles you’ve been doing on this ride! 😵‍💫
Dieters unite here…this ride is what diets were built on…
When it comes to nutrition, most of us are either all in or all out…we have zero in-between.

But for me, trying to “diet” or “eat clean” seven days a week would bring a weekend free for all that never let my body catch up.

Instead, I stay on the “Always Something” ride…where I use sugar in my coffee, real butter, add cheese to most snacks and never turn down a bbq 😍…I can eat these and choose these satisfying additions because I still drink a lot of water, include veggies at every meal, focus on eating protein…”Always Something”.

It means that while I’m not strict or perfect, I’m also not having free for all’s. I’m not either on or off…I’m on all the time just not perfectly....more importantly, I’m never off.

This helps me make good choices that lead me to my goals but still enjoying life and food! 😎

Eating like crap? Using food for comfort?
Been there and still do that sometimes!

But even if you're in that cycle and a little, nagging flame in you has you thinking about change, then you can start with small habit building to slowly make that flame rise 🔥.
Instead of signing up for a diet that will frustrate you or taking away all your favourite foods, I have something for you to try! And that's adding to your food, not taking away.

A first small habit to incorporate to your daily life right now, is eating veggies with every meal and snack.
That's it.

Whatever you're going to eat in a day, add some veggies to it. Doesn't matter which ones or how, just add'em in there! 😋

If you become aware of adding more veggies to your food, you'll be increasing your connection to the food you eat, digesting a whack ton more vitamins and minerals and helping your digestive system. All without removing anything you love.

If you can master this habit, no matter how long it takes then you're a step ahead. Once it's a habit, you can use it to stack another habit on! And little by little, you'll make your way to a solid foundation of good habits to lean on......that's how you make the whole dang fire rise 🔥🔥!

I used to think motivation was the missing piece.
If I could just want it enough, I’d finally "stick with it".

Turns out, motivation is unreliable and very, very fickle! Structure and consistency is what changed everything for me.

Once I stopped trying to feel inspired and started following a plan that made sense, consistency got… boring. And that’s when it finally worked. Because the basics work and are tried and true! Habits that are built on a solid foundation carry you through, with or without motivation. It's a boring, beautiful thing 🤣!

That’s the thinking behind IGNITE.
Not hype. Not willpower.
Just a plan you can follow even on off days.
