The holiday season can often be overwhelming. While looking after your physical self, it is also important to look after your emotional self. Sometimes small moments of the holiday at a time is the best way to enjoy. You can always see the train at a distance so you are not in the crowd and still hear the music. Bring a hot chocolate with you. And if you feel like donating a food item, that is a way of also making you feel a part of something without the full involvement. Avail Massage and Avail Veterans Medical are here for you no matter wat the season holds. Enjoy!

Traumas like PTSD can manifest internally causing maladies. If you suffer from PTSD related maladies, we are here for you.

Here are some common physical manifestations:

Chronic Pain: Trauma can cause ongoing pain in various body parts, often referred to as "invisible wounds".

Muscle Tension: The body may hold onto tension in muscles, particularly in the neck, shoulders, and back, as a response to stress.

Joint Stiffness: Some individuals experience stiffness in joints, which can be a sign of unresolved trauma.

Digestive Issues: Trauma can lead to digestive problems, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or other gastrointestinal discomforts.

Headaches and Migraines: Stress-related headaches and migraines are common among trauma survivors.

Understanding these physical symptoms is crucial for addressing trauma and promoting healing.

Emotional Benefits: Restoring Connection
Touch is a language in itself. Safe, caring touch communicates comfort and acceptance, and regular massage can help meet the deep emotional need for connection.

Eases Anxiety and Depression: Gentle, rhythmic pressure encourages the release of endorphins—your body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals—while reducing stress hormones. Many people report an uplifted mood and a sense of emotional release after a session.

Enhances Mind-Body Awareness: Massage invites you to notice sensations without judgment. This mindful attention can help you feel more present and grounded, which is especially valuable if you’re dealing with emotional overwhelm or grief.

Encourages Self-Care: Booking a massage is a deliberate act of prioritizing yourself. This simple commitment can reinforce healthier boundaries and remind you that your well-being matters.

For those who often put others first, massage can be a gentle practice of self-compassion—a way of saying, “I deserve to feel good.”

Is Deep Tissue Massage Right For You?

Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits. Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness. But it can still help to you unwind mentally, too.

A 2014 study involving 59 participants found that deep tissue massage helped to reduce pain in people with chronic low back. The authors likened its effects to those of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen (Advil).

People have also reported that deep tissue massage helps with:

sports injuries
fibromyalgia
plantar fasciitis
high blood pressure
sciatica
tennis elbow

A recent insurance industry study has shown that massage therapy is the most highly utilized workplace
paramedical benefit employed by Canadians due to its proven efficacy in addressing acute and chronic
musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Studies have shown that massage therapy can also make a
significant contribution to the reduction of the physical manifestations of depression and anxiety.
Veterans Affairs Canada offers coverage for massage therapy treatments, and this highly effective
treatment option should also be available to active Canadian Forces members.
