Most would celebrate their 25th work anniversay with cake....we however, are weird 🤪.

We will be celebrating with coleus 😂.

25 baby coleus plants. One for every fantastic year in practice.

You can have one if you want one. Much healthier for you than cake lol

The plants will arrive tomorrow (Tuesday, April 14 by 10am...I know this because I grew them and I will be bringing them with me when I come to work.)

Pro Tip:

We should all have at least one plant in the house. It is good for the soul to keep something alive ... other than yourself.

Do any of you remember Dr. Frank Slipp?

He was a much loved medical doctor here in town. We had many mutual patients together. His patients often told me how much they loved him and how much he truly cared about them. They also told me that 80% of their visit would be Dr. Slipp talking about his garden....

I think I am inching closer to being a bit more like Dr. Slipp every day..... I care about each and every one of you. I also happen to like to talk about gardening - a lot - 🙊.

Don't be surprised if "NATURE" in some form is part of your recommended care ❤️

21 tomato plant orphans... need a new home ASAP!

I thought gardening would be a tranquil, gentle hobby that would be great to fill my time as an empty nester. NO ONE warned me about GARDEN DRAMA! It is a thing...

👩🏻‍🌾Rain too much... drama
👩🏻‍🌾Rain too little .... drama
👩🏻‍🌾Bugs ... don't get me started
👩🏻‍🌾Have too much success with a seed retrieval experiment and end up with over 200 tomato plants..... drama 🍅😂🍅

I have mananged to "re-home" many of them .... thank you Emma, Milo, Kelly, Lisa and Sandra for taking ridiculous numbers of plants!!!

However..... I have 21 babies that need new homes. Homes that have southern warm windows or garden grow lights. Homes that have the time and energy to pot up these tomato babies. 🙏

You can take 1 ... or all of them.

Heirloom tomatoes: Large Amish Paste, Small Amish Paste and Purple Cherokee (delicious as a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich type tomato)

Let's be honest... it is all about the gravy 🤷🏻‍♀️

✅farm fresh chicken
✅organic veggies (under the chicken)
✅green veggie (not Dr. Mike's favourite)
✅club house gravy .... not so healthy 🙈

Here is the thing....

✅the meal was made with love
✅it is as close to perfect for what our bodies need in March
✅there will be zero food wasted as it tastes delicious
✅ it has become a family tradition

Can I make gravy?

Yes.

But our youngest son LOVES club house gravy and that was his contribution to our Christmas and Easter meals. He would make the gravy. With Gray at university we miss him. We have extra gravy packages left.... so the meal "feels and tastes" better with clubhouse!!!

Pro Tip:

Big statement coming from us....

Go ahead and be ridiculous with being healthy.

but

When you have done all of the things and made all of the sacrifices...be ok with easing up on some things that don't really matter or don't matter as much as family.

Eat the gravy.

*** So far this week it has been "pet the cow and eat the gravy". Excellent chiropractic advice I think 😂 ***

***I will post two roasted chicken recipes in the comment section. The best chicken skin ever!! The trick was to leave the chicken uncovered in the fridge over night to let the skin dry out... then rub butter all over it so the spices stick the next day. You can thank me later lol

A storm on a Monday... in Nova Scotia... no way 😂

Has any one counted how many Monday storm days we have had in 2026??? I am curious.

If you asked Dr. Mike... he would probably say "all of them" as his favourite day of the week to work is Monday... and he is starting to get cranky with Mother Nature interferring with his fun! Thankfully, he was still willing to pose for a picture this morning lol

FYI ... in 25 years of practice (that is how long we have been at this now) we have only ever been closed a couple of times. It is the hurricanes that gets us (Juan and Fiona specifically). Otherwise.... we will be open.

Storm days are FABULOUS days to call and get in right away as there are often openings. A huge shout out to our patients that consistently drive through the Cobequid Pass and over Mt Thom to get here on storm days.... you guys are built different lol ♥️.

Pro Tip:

If you are a massage patient with Jessica...storm days are the absolute best to get in off of her cancellation list! If you do get in.. you might also want to buy a lotto ticket as that will be your lucky day lol

🐮 the packaging takes about an hour and a lot of struggle as Dr.C battles with technology ALL OF THE TIME lol

This is a health suggestion ... not a marketplace ad. I promise 😂

How many of you have or have been "gifted" a bone china pattern that you "store" for special occasions because you have childhood trauma from fear of chipping "mom's" special dishes..... 🙋🏻‍♀️

I suspect MANY of us have a pattern or two at home.

I also suspect that very few people actually use their china. I know I didn't... until this year. We have started using one of our patterns as daily servers 🫣 I am "attempting" not to worry if a piece gets chipped or broken. I am not saving it for a special occasion anymore (it has been in a special cupboard for over 30 years already) as every meal is a special occasion. I am grateful that we can use the china in a way that our parents could not. I have a sneaky suspicion that our boys are not going to want my china when the time comes. 🙊

I do know that selling bone china on market place is virtually impossible. Giving it away... is almost as impossible. Very few use it and even less value or want it. So many family heirlooms but the inherent value ... is in using it!

So here comes the PRO TIP:

Live in the present ... use the china.

Let go of what happened in the past.

The future is not promised to anyone.

There are some strong mental health parallels with precious china and precious mind space. ♥️
