Sunday Thoughts: are things like Anxiety genetic? Is life Nature or Nurture? Does Epigenetics play in? What does science and the Bible agree on?
This one could be a whole book! I hope someone writes a book on tying the science and Bible together for this topic (or already has) because it's a fascinating study! So this video doesn't explain half what I wanted to since the intro to the topic was already too long. Do you want a part 2 explaining the actual processes? Let me know.
Epigenics says anxiety is initially passed through genetics. Mom's genes formed from her nervous system & hormones responding to "survival mode", which formed the genes of the baby to look for survival mode. Genetics are the initial programing in us, the Nature portion. This is "the sins of the father punished through 3rd & 4th generation". HOWEVER biology says genes can be cleaned up! This is where psychology brings in "generational curse/trauma breakers". Mom rewrites her nervous system, the baby doesn't inherit anxiety even if mom had. This is where Nurture comes in. This is the importance of our choices on more than just ourselves. This is the "raise a child in the way he should go" importance. The ability to change for ourselves since epigenetics (gene expression) changes is the hope in "the righteousness is credited to the righteous and the wickedness to the wicked". So our lifestyles, both Biblically and scientifically, literally change our genetic outcomes.
