Talking to kids about consent, body safety, and boundaries can feel uncomfortable — but these conversations are one of the most powerful ways we can protect and empower them. 💜

Storytelling can help open the door to these important discussions in a way that feels safe, age-appropriate, and easier for children to understand. Stories give kids the language to express their feelings, recognize unsafe situations, and know that their voices matter.

We’ve gathered a few books for different age groups that support conversations about body autonomy, consent, and abuse prevention. Reading together can create space for questions, trust, and ongoing dialogue.

Because every child deserves to know:
their body belongs to them, their voice matters, and they can always tell a safe adult.

Talking to children about difficult or distressing events can feel overwhelming for many parents and caregivers. When big news hits close to home, kids often have questions, worries, and emotions they may not know how to express.

Being a calm, trusted source of information helps children feel safe, heard, and supported. Small conversations can make a big difference in helping them understand what’s happening and reminding them they are not alone.

Swipe through for a few gentle ways to approach these conversations with care and connection.
