In Celebration of Black History Month, Rachel and Laya from Origins Dermatology have keenly attended ‘BLACK PRAIRIES’ in Regina, an exhibition that honours over a century of Black/African-Canadian cultural production across the Prairies! Spanning the 1920s to today, it showcases powerful lens-based media, from William “Billy” Beal’s glass plate negatives of early 1900s homesteading life to archival photographs from the Frank Jamerson fonds, documenting the migration of Black communities to the Prairies. This exhibit celebrates the resilience, creativity, and history of Black communities in the region. At its core, it is a space for reflection, dialogue, and solidarity as we continue to foster diversity and uplift Black voices. Rachel is also very grateful for her Friends and Colleagues who are a part of this wonderful community!!!
