๐ŸŒปโœจ Sunflowers amaze me.

They donโ€™t just bring a smile with their sunny faces, or feed the birds and bees that stop byโ€ฆ they also do something incredible beneath the soil. These golden giants can actually help clean the earth by pulling toxins and heavy metals out of the ground.

Isnโ€™t that wild? A flower that brightens our day, nourishes pollinators, and heals the soil all at once. Nature never ceases to surprise me.

I think itโ€™s time we start growing more of these beauties on the farm. Not just for the colour and cheer, but as a quiet way of giving back to the land.

The magic of summer nights โ€” tiny flickers of light dancing across the dark โ€” actually begins right now. โœจ

Those fireflies we long to see next summer are already here, quietly tucked away in the soil and leaf litter. They spend most of their lives hidden, waiting for the right season to glow.

If youโ€™d like to see more of them lighting up your evenings, the best thing you can do is give them a safe place to live. That means leaving a wild corner in your yard and resisting the urge to spray or overly tidy this fall.

Itโ€™s such a simple way to keep the magic alive. ๐Ÿ’š

Do you leave part of your yard wild for the little creatures that depend on it?

Today is Labour Day.

For many, itโ€™s a day to squeeze in one last barbecue, camping trip, or moment of summer before the cool winds of September roll in. But the day itself carries a deeper meaning.

Labour Day began as a way to honour workers and the labour movement โ€” those who stood up for fair hours, safer conditions, and the rights of everyday people. Itโ€™s because of their efforts that we have things like weekends and workplace protections today.

Here on the farm, the word ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ takes on its own rhythm. Itโ€™s early mornings, heavy lifting, sore muscles โ€” but also the joy of caring for animals, watching the land change with the seasons, and finding purpose in the work of our hands.

So today, whether youโ€™re resting, working, or gathering with loved ones, may you carry a quiet gratitude for the labour โ€” past and present โ€” that has shaped the life we enjoy.

Wishing you all a restful and meaningful Labour Day. ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ’›

Sometimes I think back to childhood days of simply laying in the grass, staring up at the clouds, or watching sunlight dance through the branches of a tree.

There was no rush, no endless list to check off, no scrolling for answers in a glowing screen. Just the quiet gift of being still, of letting thoughts drift like clouds above.

Somewhere along the way, we forget how much we need those pauses. To look up, to breathe, to listen to the hum of the world around us.

Maybe today is a good day to slow down. To find a patch of sky through the branches and remember what it feels like to simply be. ๐ŸŒฟโœจ

โœจ Homemade Tooth Powder โœจ

Lately Iโ€™ve been mixing up my own tooth powder, and it has been a game changer for me. I kept it simple at first, using what I had on hand:

My starter recipe:

3 Tbsp baking soda
1 Tbsp diatomaceous earth
1 Tbsp xylitol
A few drops of peppermint essential oil (though spearmint or wintergreen would work too!)

Thatโ€™s it โ€” mix together and store in a little jar. Dip your damp toothbrush in and brush as usual.

๐ŸŒฟ Optional extras you can add:

Bentonite clay (great for remineralizing)
Activated charcoal (for whitening)
Myrrh (antimicrobial)
Clove (for tooth aches and gum health)
Herbs like comfrey or liquorice root (strengthening and soothing)

For me, this isnโ€™t just about fresh breath โ€” itโ€™s about real relief. Iโ€™ve got a large cavity on a wisdom tooth and another in a molar. If Iโ€™m faithful with this tooth powder, and with swishing clove, comfrey, and liquorice root tea, I have no pain. If I stop or slack off, that deep throbbing reminds me quickly.

Itโ€™s amazing how something so simple, natural, and inexpensive can make such a difference. ๐Ÿ’š

Have you ever tried making your own tooth powder? Would love to hear what you add in!

๐Ÿพ Oh Stewartโ€ฆ our farm clown strikes again!

Tom thought it would be funny to tie a rag to his collar, and now Stewart is putting on a full-blown comedy show trying to shake, roll, and wiggle it off. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m not sure if heโ€™s part dog or part rodeo star the way heโ€™s thrashing around.

What do you thinkโ€”
๐Ÿ‘‰ Is Stewart showing off his new fashion accessory?
๐Ÿ‘‰ Or is this his dramatic audition for โ€œBest Doggie Actor in a Comedy Roleโ€?

Drop your votes below โฌ‡๏ธ and letโ€™s see what Stewartโ€™s big role should be!

๐Ÿ‚ Meet Moose & Mocha ๐Ÿ‚
Our two youngest goats are quickly learning the joy of leaf hay!

When the trees start letting go of their leaves, most of us just see yard workโ€ฆ but to goats, itโ€™s a crunchy, nutritious snack! Moose and Mocha dove right into their pile today, munching like it was the best treat ever. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’›

Why leaf hay?
๐Ÿ‘‰ Itโ€™s full of natural minerals and nutrients.
๐Ÿ‘‰ It adds tasty variety to their diet.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Itโ€™s a sustainable way to use what nature gives us for free.

Watching these two discover their new favourite fall snack is such a reminder of how resourceful and fun farm life can be. Who knew falling leaves could bring so much goat joy? ๐Ÿƒโœจ

This little ball of fluff is Cotton Ball. ๐Ÿชถ

She came to the farm with her soft feathers and gentle ways, and it didnโ€™t take long before she stole our hearts. Thereโ€™s something about the way she wanders the yardโ€”never in a rush, just quietly moving along as if she has all the time in the worldโ€”that reminds us to slow down, too.

Now, as the apples begin to fall and the air shifts toward autumn, Cotton Ball seems right at home among the colours of the season. She pecks curiously at the windfall fruit, fluff catching the golden light, and somehow makes the whole scene feel a little more magical. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‚

Itโ€™s a good reminder that while the farm is often full of big jobs and noisy moments, itโ€™s the quiet, gentle souls like Cotton Ball who bring balance and beauty to our days.

What about youโ€”what little everyday moments help you pause and soak in the season? ๐ŸŒฟโœจ
