Our March event with 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union was such a great reminder of how powerful these rooms can be!

Nahid brought so much value and made the evening interactive, engaging, and fun with her money game! 💴 It was incredible to see everyone so involved and open to learning in a different way.

Thank you to Nahid Hassen and the team at 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union for hosting us and creating such a welcoming space.

And of course, thank you to everyone who showed up, participated, and continues to make this community what it is! 💗

The Loft on 5th is launching something brand new, and it’s called The Loft After Hours and the very first one is happening April 1st from 4 to 7 PM.

It’s a Music & Mingle, so think: really good, jazzy music, a super easy, welcoming vibe, and just a room full of people you actually want to connect with.

There will be light refreshments, plus a signature mocktail: The Loft Spritz — which, I mean… you should probably come just for that alone.

And there’s some really fun interactive vendors booked: Foster from Baked In Cookies is doing a “Taste & Tell,” so you can sample and be part of the process, Moriah from Moriah Makes will have a button and magnet station for personal or business use, and Tasha from Eternal Love is bringing permanent jewelry if you want something a little more lasting from the night.

It’s completely free to come, and honestly just a really great excuse to get out, meet some incredible people, and check out what they’re building.

AND they've got some exciting new things to chat about during the night, so you’ll definitely want to be there for that.

Join us for a fun, interactive, powerful and practical evening as Southern Alberta Women in Business partners with 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union Ltd. to bring you a conversation that every woman in business needs to have.

We will be gathering at the 1st Choice Savings Fairmont branch, located at 45 Fairmont Blvd S, for an evening of insight, connection, and meaningful discussion. Guests will enjoy an assortment of delicious appetizers catered by Country Kitchen Catering while networking with fellow women in business.

This event introduces a fresh perspective to the SAWIB community. Our guest speaker and long-time SAWIB member, Nahid Hassan from 1st Choice Savings, is a leader in financial wellness with over twenty years of experience in the financial industry. She is deeply committed to supporting the financial well-being of our community and was recognized as the 2024 Lethbridge Chamber Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding contributions.

Her presentation will explore essential protection topics, including planning for the unexpected, navigating illness, caring for loved ones, and safeguarding your business during life’s most challenging moments. These conversations can feel uncomfortable, but Nahid provides clarity, empathy, and a deep commitment to helping women make informed, proactive decisions today rather than being forced into difficult adjustments later.

Last week’s Mix & Mingle event was one of those nights that reminds us why this community matters.

So many women showed up to connect, collaborate and build real relationships. Some even drove in from surrounding communities just to be in the room, and that kind of commitment never goes unnoticed.

There’s something powerful about a space filled with passionate business women who are willing to introduce themselves, start conversations, and support one another.

A big thank you to The Loft On 5th for hosting us in their beautiful space, and to Jackie Standing .business for sharing practical insight on body language in communication and networking. So many great takeaways from the evening.

Jackie Standing is the owner and lead photographer of StandOut Photography Studio, which she founded in 2010. With over 15 years of experience in family portraiture, business headshots, and personal branding, she is known for her ability to meet people for the first time and quickly help them feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. By paying close attention to body language, expression, and energy, Jackie creates an experience where her clients feel seen and portraits are authentic.

She also serves as the Events & Partnerships Manager for the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce, where she brings that same relationship-focused approach to the business community, creating spaces where conversations flow easily, introductions feel genuine, and connections lead to meaningful opportunities.

We’re kicking off 2026 with connection, conversation, and a little fun!

Join us, Thursday, January 15th, at The Nest at Honkers Pub from 5:30–7:30 pm for our first SAWIB event of 2026!

We’ll enjoy food and drinks, cover a short AGM, and then spend the rest of the evening speed dating with other women in business. It’s the perfect way to start the year with new connections and fresh momentum.

We’re also looking to welcome one or two new board members this year, so if you’ve ever been curious about getting more involved, this is a great place to start. Feel free to connect with us if you have any questions!!

Market cancelled 😢

Unfortunately due to weather, cancellations, and expectation of low patronage due to weather, we have decided to cancel the SAWIB market.

Please note that if you are a registered, non-member vendor and paid for your table, we will issue prompt refunds. We will also be extending the opportunity for early bird membership pricing and hope you’d still love to join us for our 2026 season.
