The truths 👇🏼

1️⃣ Motivation almost always comes after action, not before. You won’t always feel like getting started. But once you do, momentum builds. Waiting to feel “ready” often just delays progress.

2️⃣ Having fun is a valid reason to exercise. Not every workout needs to be about burning calories or hitting goals. Joy, play, and enjoyment are reason enough to move your body.

3️⃣ “Toning workouts” are a marketing ploy. There’s no magical toning exercise, it’s just strength training done consistently. Muscle + time + fat loss = definition.

4️⃣Just because running is trendy right now doesn’t mean you have to run. You don’t need to force yourself into a type of exercise you don’t enjoy. Movement should support your body, not drain it.

5️⃣ You do not need perfect movement skills to start in the gym. You learn by doing, not by waiting until everything is flawless. Progress comes from showing up, not performing perfectly. Of course if you have no idea where to start, seeking guidance is helpful.

Living a fulfilling life means finding things that bring you joy. Sometimes it’s hard to start. That’s ok. Life isn’t perfect and you don’t have to be perfect or fit in with everyone else. Get out there, try new things and make exercise fun!!! ☺️

Always working towards the best version of myself 🩷

Both personally and professionally, I believe growth comes from putting in the work, day in and day out. It’s about showing up, challenging myself, and staying consistent - even when I don’t feel like it.

The question I always like to ask myself and my clients is - how much are you willing to put into yourself today, to make you a better version of yourself tomorrow? Can you meet yourself halfway if you are facing challenges?

Whether you’re trying to get stronger or recovering from an injury, the path is never linear, but knowing you are putting small amounts of effort into yourself each day can make all the difference. Progress isn’t about perfection; it’s about showing up for yourself and trusting that those small, consistent efforts add up over time. 🤝🏼💪🏼

Mindset matters. 🧠

The impact of a strong mental mindset extends far beyond the tangible aspects of training.

It can shape the narrative of your recovery and athletic journey, and can propel you through setbacks.

In the face of injury, a robust mindset can turn challenges into growth opportunities. 💪🏼

Chronic pain often initiates a self-perpetuating cycle, beginning with the experience of pain itself, which triggers a heightened fear of re-injury. This fear leads to muscle guarding and a subsequent decrease in physical activity, contributing to restricted mobility and range of motion. As movement becomes limited, muscles weaken and atrophy, resulting in a further decline in overall function and increased emotional distress, thereby reinforcing the ongoing cycle of chronic pain.

It can be hard to exit out of this cycle. Breaking free from this cycle can be challenging, as the interplay of pain, fear, and physical limitations creates a complex web that requires comprehensive and often multifaceted approaches for effective intervention. Physiotherapists can help you work through the physical and psychological aspects of this cycle by addressing strategies that promote healing, sustained relief, and an exit, from this cycle. ❤️‍🩹

Two more weeks until I’m in full Ironman 70.3 training mode! 🏊🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

Excited to see how my body transitions this time around after working so hard in the gym over the past year. Not gunna lie I took a decent time off of cardio (other than of course all my hikes this summer) so I sure am feeling the transition big time! 😂
