“Nou la,” meaning “We are here” in Haitian Kreyòl, is an affirmation of survival, resistance and cultural contribution. August's Emancipation Month is a celebration of the end of slavery and acknowledgement of the contributions of Black folks to our thriving communities.

In keeping with the 2025 Emancipation Month theme, "Nou la: Commemorating Emancipation and Haitian Culture” the City of Toronto honours Haiti’s global significance in the fight for Black liberation and uplifts the stories of Haitian Torontonians who continue to shape the city. Pictured is the Black Liberation flag, raised to mark the start of Emancipation Month.

The City of Toronto's website invites us to learn more about Emancipation, what you can do to Confront the Past, Change the Future, as well as check out a list of dynamic local events that celebrate history, culture, food and Black Francophone excellence at https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/history-art-culture/emancipation-month/

Our staff were proud to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of our Step-Up/Step-Down mental health program this June. SU/SD helps clients 'step down' from a hospital or secure treatment setting or 'step-up' when community treatment and/or in-home support have not been successful. We're excited to shine a light on the past year's successes increasing senses of hope and stability for clients in need. 🧡 Happy 1 year SU/SD!

Canada Day (July 1st) is a national holiday that marks the anniversary of Canada's confederation in 1867. It's a time for Canadians to reflect on their identity, culture, and shared values.

Out of deep respect for Indigenous peoples of Canada, Youthdale recognizes that its work, and the work of its community partners take place on traditional Indigenous territories across the province. We are thankful to be able to work and live in these territories. We are thankful to the First Nations, Inuit and Métis people who have cared for these territories since time immemorial and who continue to contribute to the strength of all communities across Canada.

Pride exists to remember, honour, and celebrate the contributions of past and present 2SLGBTQIA+ persons as part of our collective history. All month long, we've taken opportunities to recognize the equal rights and freedoms of everyone regardless of s*x, orientation, gender expression and identity; we offer allyship to those in need of support this month — and every month.

Don't miss the Pride Toronto Festival & Parade Weekend (June 26-29th)! We join members of the community in festivals and special events like these that serve as safe spaces for people to be their truest selves. Youthdale is proud to provide sanctuary, safety, and support to all clients, staff, and friends of the agency. 🏳️‍🌈
