The National Eye Institute (NEI) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Preferred Practice Pattern Guidelines advise against the AREDS formulas for early-stage AMD.

AREDS Report #8 indicated potential harm from zinc use by early MD patients. (Chew, 2001)

Some individuals will experience harmful results from taking zinc due to a common AMD genetic risk profile. Only a VitaRisk or Eyegen genetic test can identify people who should avoid high-dose zinc supplements. (Kaufman, 2020) (Vavvas, 2018) (Seddon, 2016) (Awh, 2014, 2013)

We are very pleased to announce the launch of "EyeGen". Eyegen is a genetic test for Age-Related Macular Degeneration delivered directly to your home.

Eyegen identifies those at high risk for AMD by screening for 12 genes known to be associated with AMD. Eyegen indicates whether AREDs formulations with Zinc are harmful or helpful and provides a genotype-guided recommendation for the type of supplement to take to reduce vision loss progression.

AMD is considered one of the most powerfully genetic-dominant diseases discovered to date. Your genetic profile can account for over 60% of the risk of developing AMD. Having a first-degree relative (mother, father, brother, sister) with AMD significantly increases your risk. Protect yourself, prote...

For those that are frustrated with their glasses or protective eyewear steaming up consider FogBlocker dry or wet wipes.

This article was first published in The Montreal Gazette. The other day, while running on the mountain, I was stopped by a well-meaning bystander who warned me not to wear a mask while running. Blue light carries a greater amount of energy per unit than
other colours of visible light. This makes it more dangerous
and capable of causing the formation of reactive oxygen
species that can damage cells in the retina. Macular pigments absorb blue light and act as antioxidants to protect retinal cells

The MPeye outputs a single score that ranks the strength of your patients' macular pigments against the wider population.
Regular assessment using the MPeye will enable you to detect changes in your patient's score.

Significant decreases in this score could provide early warning of underlying eye health issues.
