Lazarus has died. His sister Martha is grieving—but her faith remains. “I know he will rise again,” she tells Jesus, even as she mourns his absence and wonders why he didn’t come in time to heal her brother.

Have you ever felt like Martha—grappling with loss, asking why bad things happen, why prayers go unanswered?

At this moment of sorrow, Jesus makes a bold claim: “I am the resurrection and the life.” With these words, he reframes our understanding of eternal life—not as something distant or merely literal, but as something transformative in the present.

Today, we will step into this story through Martha’s eyes. Together, we will reflect on the meaning of resurrection, not as resuscitation, but as a call to live now in communion with the divine. What does it mean to identify with Jesus and participate in his true, eternal life?

According to the Gospel of John, we already know the way—we have seen it—yet we often fail to recognize it. This Sunday, we will consider Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and discern together how we might begin to trust and allow our hearts to dwell in God.
