I teach movement—but today I marched it.Joined the No Tyrants March here in Toronto, walking from the US consulate (a cold, camera-covered bunker on an otherwise graceful University Avenue) to Queen’s Park.
Movement is what I do every day to care for my body—but it’s also how we push back. How we show up. How we keep going.
I skipped the stick on my sign so I’d have to lift it high—elbows up, arms overhead, heart open. (Side note: the anatomical name for your elbow is the olecranon—and yes, mine got a workout today.)

I don’t often talk politics here — but today, it feels impossible not to.

Taking care of our bodies and minds has never been just about individual health; it’s about how we show up for each other, especially when the world feels heavy.
Community, justice, and hope are part of well-being.

I may not have the biggest platform, but every voice matters right now. Too many people are at risk of losing rights, safety, and opportunity.

I’m dressed in my Canadian best (shirt, leggings and jacket by small Canadian businesses) to cast my vote for Mark Carney.

I’m staying true to a belief that caring for ourselves means caring for our world, too.
We are stronger when we move together.

It snowed again—and I took a barefoot walk in it (just for a minute!). There’s something invigorating about feeling the snow underfoot—tingly, fresh, alive.

Today, I noticed something remarkable in my footprints: wide, well-spread toes and a lovely arch. That wasn’t always the case. My former bunion-prone feet used to look long, flat, and squeezed together—far from strong or functional.

It took time, intention, and the right kind of movement to rebuild strength and alignment. Just for contrast, I mimicked my old posture—collapsing my arches and letting my toes crowd in. The difference is striking.

If your feet are telling a similar story—bunions, flat arches, discomfort—I can help. Stronger, more functional feet are possible, no matter your age.

Ever looked at your footprint (like stepping out of the shower)? What is it telling you?

PSA: Slippery Paths and Parks Alert!

Toronto friends, it’s that time of year again—icy paths are turning into danger zones! ⚠️

This weekend, I checked out two local parks, and both were ice rinks—impossible to walk safely. I’ve already heard of broken kneecaps, torn tendons, and other nasty falls. Let’s not risk our spring plans over a few extra steps!

Consider prioritizing indoor movement—try standing exercises, stretching, or try my online classes! (Get a head start on your spring training with the Walking Challenge!)

Falls on ice are the number one cause of winter injuries resulting in hospital visits with knee and lower leg and wrist injuries being the most common.

Stay safe, stay upright, and let’s all make it to spring in one piece!

Alignment REScue studio

Located in the Beach Hill area of Toronto, this studio offers Restorative Exercise training, classes and workshops by Nutritious Movement™ certified specialist Carol Robbins. Carol has twenty years’ experience teaching movement. Her special areas of interest are feet, shoulders, hyper-kyphosis and aging (Carol turns 60 in 2020).

Carol certified to teach RE in early 2013, and has attended training weeks, staff retreats and advanced trainings every year, working regularly with Nutritious Movement Founder Katy Bowman and assisting at Katy’s workshops at Kripalu. As well, she is influenced by her ongoing training with anatomy expert Eileen Birks (Nelson BC). The beautiful studio is equipped with floor to ceiling mirrors, outdoor covered hanging bars, outdoor monkey bars, rock walks, full southern exposure, and even a working fireplace for those chilly mornings. Classes are small and provide individual attention. A private session is required before joining the group class. Carol is one of 30 worldwide Move Your DNA teachers. This is a two-day workshop that goes through all the exercises in the book Move Your DNA providing individual attention and clarification. Sign-up is on the Nutritious Movement website. The fall MYDNA is October 26/27 and held indoors at the foot of Kew Gardens, right on the beach.

Carol has also completed training to offer the 8-session Dynamic Aging course and looks forward to providing that soon!
