🩺 TEAM STORY: Listening to the Signs
Behind every great care team is someone who also knows what it's like to need care. After a recent neck injury, Jules began experiencing persistent ringing, a classic sign of tinnitus.

This week, they stepped into the sound booth—not as a provider, but as a patient—getting a full hearing test to check for any changes.

🧠 Neck injuries can affect nerves and blood flow near the ear, triggering tinnitus symptoms. Early testing and evaluation are key.

We’re proud of Jules for setting the example: if something doesn’t sound right, get it checked.

📣 “You don’t hear what I hear.”
Tinnitus is more than just an annoying sound—it’s an invisible struggle. For many, the biggest challenge isn’t the ringing, but the loneliness that comes with it.

🧠 When people don’t understand what tinnitus feels like, it can lead to:

Social withdrawal
Anxiety
and Depression

It has been five years since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Each of us has personally and professionally experienced the impact of COVID-19 . In 2019, there were many unknowns about the virus’s effect on the many parts of the auditory system: hearing, tinnitus, balance, auditory processing, and cognition. Although it was tempting to make early declarations regarding the impact of COVID-19 on these areas, the aggregated peer-reviewed literature points to a more realistic picture.

Here are some summer-friendly foods & supplements to keep your ears sharp:

🥦 Spinach & Kale – Packed with folate, which may help prevent age-related hearing loss. Add them to a fresh summer salad!

🍉 Watermelon – Keeps you hydrated and supports circulation, vital for healthy inner ears.

🐟 Salmon & Tuna – Rich in Omega-3s that can reduce inflammation and improve auditory function.

🫐 Blueberries – Full of antioxidants that may protect against cell damage in your ears.

🍹 Sipping on Summer? It Might Be Ringing in More Than Fun.
Did you know that your favorite summer cocktails could be worsening your tinnitus?

Alcohol can affect blood flow and nerve health, both critical when it comes to managing those persistent ringing or buzzing sounds in your ears. While an occasional drink is okay for many, overindulging in warm-weather cocktails might make your symptoms spike.

🌞 Stay refreshed and ear-aware this summer.
✅ Hydrate.
✅ Limit alcohol.
✅ Listen to your body — and your ears.

😅 True story from the clinic this week:

One of our own team members came in saying,
“My ear feels blocked — like I’m underwater.”
Even hearing pros get buildup sometimes!

✅ The good news? A quick, gentle cleaning fixed it.
✅ The better news? No permanent damage or infection.

👂 If your ear feels:
• Plugged or full
• Like sound is muffled
• Like you can hear your own voice echo...
..it might not be hearing loss — it could be wax.
