DID YOU KNOW ... that mood, sleep habits, and personality traits can affect tinnitus?
A new study from McGill (with partners in Paris) used data from nearly 200,000 people to build a model that predicts who might suffer more intensely from tinnitus. Key risk factors: poor sleep, frequent fatigue, low mood, and high neuroticism.
This is an important discovery because earlier intervention for individuals with tinnitus who experience these risk factors may help improve the quality of life for those on the path to more severe symptoms.
Research shows that untreated hearing loss is more than just a communication challenge β itβs also linked to cognitive decline and dementia.
Hearing loss can also lead to social withdrawal, reducing vital stimulation and interaction that keep the brain sharp.
Over time, this increased cognitive load and isolation may contribute to changes in brain structure and function.
β¨ The good news:
Early detection and treatment with hearing aids or hearing support can help reduce these risks and keep both hearing and cognitive health stronger for longer.
π Taking care of your hearing means taking care of your brain.

π Imagine sitting in a quiet roomβ¦
No TV, no background noise, no distractions.
For most people, that silence feels calm.
But for someone living with tinnitus, itβs the opposite.
The βquietβ is filled with a constant ringing, buzzing, or roaring sound that no one else can hear.
Thatβs the reality many face every day. Itβs not βjust a little ringing.β
It can affect sleep, focus, and even mental health.
π‘ By raising awareness, we remind others that this invisible condition is very real β and that support and understanding make a huge difference.
Tinnitus CAN be treated. Call us today to learn about our holistic tinnitus treatment program 905-303-HEAR (4327).
