Crawford's Cemetery

Crawford's Cemetery I am setting up a profile for Crawford's Cemetery, so people can get contact information and people can add family names or information about this cemetery

Crawford's Cemetery is located on Conc 12 Lots 9 & 10 Dalhousie Township Lanark County. A man by the name of John Crawford donated the original land for a cemetery. Since that time a couple more parcels of land have been purchased by the Cemetery Committee. Crawford's Cemetery was established sometime in the 1840's. The earliest is a memorial to a North Sherbrooke pioneer, William Bryce, who died in 1844.

Robert Ross Wilson
February 11, 1933 — June 22, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Ross Wilson of Fallowfield. He passed away peacefully on June 22nd 2025, at the age of 92 with family at his side. Born on February 11th, 1933, Ross was the third of four children to the late Clarence Wilson and Agnes Wilson (nee Cathcart)

Ross, predeceased by June Wilson (nee Hope), was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather survived by his four children, Janet (Les), Kenneth, John (Sandra), Blair (Patsy), his eight grandchildren, Lindsay (James), Leigh (Taylor), Shane(Jill), Hope (Kyle), Rachel (Kenneth), Jake, Melissa (Eric), Skye (Cameron), and his five great-grandchildren, Dream, Summer, Ainsley, Broderick and Emma June.

Ross grew up in Goulbourn Twp, moving not far (after marrying June) onto a corner of the Hope family farm in Fallowfield, where he remained. Ross and June raised their family there, summering at their cottage on the North Shore of Dalhousie Lake, near McDonalds Corners.

Ross spent most of his career with Bell Canada, enduring the commute to Elgin St. via a chartered school bus (later to be OC Transpo). There was rumor of a PhD, but was later revealed to mean “post hole digger”, and not a doctorate.

Ross was fond of his time at the cottage, some of which was spent reading, enjoying a beverage, playing golf, captaining the boat for water skiing, and just sitting on the screened porch wondering who it was driving by. During the winter months he was an avid curler at the Richmond Curling Club. After a brief hiatus from curling he was coaxed back to curl with his sons, Ken and John, up to and including the season past.

Special thanks to the dedicated staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital who attended in his time of need.

We would like to invite family and friends to Tubman Funeral Homes, Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Rd (between Bayshore & Baseline Rd.) for a Visitation on Thursday June 26 from 10am to 12pm. A memorial service will take place at 12pm with a reception to follow.

Obituary of Shelley Lynn Duffy

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shelley Lynn Duffy, who passed away peacefully at home on Saturday July 12, 2025. She was the devoted mother to her children: Tara Duffy (Jose), Tiffany McLaughlin-Duffy (Sara), and Kyra Whyte. Her love extended deeply to her cherished grandson, Evan Duffy (Rachel), as well as to her many furry grandchildren: Eavie, Frankie, Kota, Elliott, Fern, Messier, Nova, and Loki. Shelley was the fourth of ten children born to the late Ross and Agnes McPherson (née Reid) in Perth, Ontario. She will be deeply missed by her siblings: Cindy (Lloyd), Reid (Carolyn), Karen (Rico), Debbie (Russ), Beth (Art), Kevin (Stacy), Randy (Shannon), Tania (Brian), and Lori. She was a loving aunt and great-aunt, fondly remembered by Crystal, Blaine, Cody, Jaime, Megan, Mackenzie, Mason, Chantelle, Jim Reid, Stevie, Shawndra, Raisha, Jordan, Caroline, Daymon, Bryant, Connor, Larissa, and Cohen, Mckenzie, Shayla, Makayla and Mackenzie. She was a proud great-aunt to Wyatt, Easton, Kaylee, Logan, Reece, Blakely, Haelyn, Ryder, Cameron, Beau, Ross, Hunter, Dannilynn, Gabriel, Parker, Railynn, Gannon, Hadley, Rosalyn, Declan, Gus, and Archie. Shelley is predeceased by her beloved son William (Billy) Duffy, grandson Avery William Whyte, and nephew Jonathan Ross McPherson.

Shelley was a strong, compassionate, and loving presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A private family service will be held at Crawford Cemetery on July 22, 2025. As expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions to Canadian Cancer Society, CHEO or Mel's Farm-All Animal Sanctuary would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all who braved the heat today to attend the Crawford Cemetery Service and for all your generous donations. Thanks to Mario Sassi and his wife Dorothy for a very uplifting service and Aleisha White for the beautiful music on her flute. Thankfully there was a gentle breeze under the trees. You have to take the good with the bad. Thanks to Tom and Dave for cutting the hay in E section and trimming along the road by Dan’s gate. I finally got the outhouse stained before Sunday’s Decoration Service and then very disappointed in the trash being left by the shed. We have wonderful volunteers and no only the grass maintenance person gets paid. And no we don’t have Township garbage pick up. That’s done by volunteer’s too.

Thank you to all the ladies who have taken over looking after the flower bed at the front gate. It looks awesome. I should have asked for help years ago.
Well done and much appreciated 👏👏👏👏
