We are a team of professionals offering support and education for pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeedi

Our group is made up of birth doulas, postnatal doulas, a lactation consultant, and childbirth educators. Our focus is providing education and support from pre-conception, through the birth experience, and into the parenting years.

One year ago we welcomed this sweet new human earthside with an amazing birthing experience.
Truly a wondrous birth.
This baby's Mama chose Doula support to help avoid some of what she had experienced during her first birth. While the birth itself had gone fairly smoothly, in her words she had felt "violated and disrespected" during her labour in the hospital.
That is obviously not acceptable, no one should ever feel that way during this sacred journey.

After several preparation sessions, Dad and Doula had clarity on what Mama was okay with and definitely not okay with happening during this birth.
We were ready to protect her Hopes and Wishes

The day of the birth she had a gentle lead up so due to the hour drive to the hospital we headed in once it was clear this was baby meeting day.
In triage Mama was clear with the staff that she was not okay with any cervical checks and wanted minimal staff in the labour room, and Dad said he wanted to catch his baby.
The Doctor was open to helping Dad catch baby but spent some time explaining why the Nurses needed to know Mama's cervix dilation in order to do their job properly...
We shared the past birth trauma, and Mama said that she did not consent, and the Doctor quickly got her into a room and the staff was incredibly respectful of her need for privacy and a "hands off" approach!
She never got a single cervix check.
We did all the moves and jiggles and Mama could feel baby shifting down during strong surges. After a few hours baby was clearly staying lower down because she started feeling more pressure and back pain during the surges. She was standing on the bed leaning over the squat bar facing Dad who was supporting her in her favourite position when the Nurse came in to monitor baby and offered sterile water injections for the back pain to which Mama agreed. The Nurse said she would be back in 10 minutes.
1 minute after the Nurse left we heard Mama say "It Popped!"
Dad and Doula bent down to confirm this was the waters and we saw baby's head!
Another contraction and the head was out!
And then, their baby was born into Dad's hands!

Grateful and Thankful are daily feels for our little collaboration.
Being privileged to share information, provide support before, during and after the birth of new life is a life we are so honoured to live.

To spend time over the weekend of Thankfulness supporting a family meeting their newest member felt perfect beyond words.
What a gorgeous sky to be born under ✨

And such a strong Mama, with such loving support from Dad and Grandparents. Supporting and being witnesses to a beautiful unhindered start to life on earth brings us such deep gratitude and sparkling joy

A big welcome to this new human and all the Thanks and Gratitude to all of you out there giving us the opportunity to walk our path of joy and purpose 💕

Hope everyone had at least one moment of Thankfulness and gratitude this weekend, as that perspective is a game changer in life 🤗

One of our Doulas recently made this lovely stew for a new Mama and it has become a family favourite

With the first two sips this new Mama put her hands on her chest and said "Woah this is so nourishing and healing feeling" 💞
I guess we are fans of this!

Trying to figure out your options in the middle of your birth is not advisable, this is not the time to be "learning" and diving into your "thinking brain".
Birth is time for quiet, calm and limbic brain mode, which is why we do our best to cover as much as we can in our prenatal series so you can walk your birth path in a state of calm and security.
This is also true of the immediate postnatal time period, which is why our class series includes newborn care, breastfeeding, and parenting info, tips and guides ✨

We are big fans of the Oxytocin hormone and neurotransmitter 💞
Which is why we love this little rollerball for use in late stage pregnancy, labour and beyond.

What's the big deal with oxytocin?
There is a lot to be said about its value and importance (blog post coming soon 😘) but some of the top things naturally produced oxytocin helps with on the birth path are:
Helps soften the cervix
Stimulates endorphin release (pain relief hormones!)
Activates calmness and connection
Triggers the fetal ejection reflex
Reduces/prevents hemorrhage
Amplifies Mama-Baby bonding

These seem like a good idea!

The more you understand how your body works in birth, the easier it is to work with it and support its beautiful design.

Learning before doing also helps reduce the anxiety of not knowing things while in the midst of The Big Day!

Which is why we offer educational classes, birth support and some "helpers" like this rollerball.

Our favourite environment for birth is a quiet, calm, connected, natural hormone flowing state for the birthing Parent(s)

We absolutely love hosting this class for parents to be no matter how many births they've had.

It's a great way to learn some hands on ways to support the birth path, and it's a great refresher and "get in the mode" class for those who have walked the birth path before 🥰

If this is your first birth journey we include this class as part of The Big Day class (and the whole series!) but it can also be taken on its own for those who are birthing again.
