| Water Birth - Expert Review |

If you've considered a water birth, in general, your options in Simcoe County and York Region are 1. With a midwife and 2. At home only. Our communities hospitals don't allow or have the facilities (birth tubs) to foster water birth wishes. will set up a birth tub at . We'd love to see this option available to clients in other hospital rooms throughout our regions, since we know that water birth is comparable to land birth with regards to risk factors for both newborn and birth parent. And water as a comfort measure in labour can be effective and, to be frank, a game changer! Choice is best. We love to see a diversity of choices in labour. (See link below for scientific review 👇🏼)

As your Doula, we will support your birth wishes and choices before, during, and after delivery. Ask us about water birth; let's have a chat about your birth options in southern Ontario.

If you're considering a Doula for support, click here https://www.thedoulagroup.ca/ to contact us. Our Team cares for clients throughout York Region and Simcoe County, some Dufferin County, and South Muskoka - and whether you have an OB team, Midwifery team, or a GP for clinical care.

| Love is more powerful than hate I As Doulas, we celebrate the family. All families. There's no place for hate when helping to create a loving and safe space for families preparing and
welcoming their babies into their arms. There's
no place for hate when mentoring and supporting families in their homes while they learn and grow with their babies. When it comes down to it, what we provide to each of our clients and their babies is Love.

2SLGBTQI+ people continue to face volatile
pushback within our communities, country, and around the world. Including those in the
childbearing years, wanting to grow and cherish their families. Everyone deserves love, every day. And every day, as Doulas, we witness the most vulnerable moments of life. Supporting all families during these moments is a must for us.

Making sure we give extra love to those who
are facing threats, being denied their human
rights, and in potential danger for being able to live their best and authentic lives... well, that just seems obvious.

"Love is more powerful than hate,' Joshua
LeClair, Anishinaabe two-spirit person, Pride
organizer, Thunder Bay, Ontario. We agree with Joshua. And that power will win. Happy Pride, this month of June, and every day in
between.

| Family | The power of generations should never go unnoticed... wisdom and love, and clearly joy. These words and image from and respectively... ohhhh the heart strings!

"My mama, with worn hands from
years of tending and loving,
Laid eyes on my baby for the first time.
And in an instant, melted fully around her,
Scooped her up and was lost in a moment, as if she'd found her own babies back in her arms
Flooded with their memory, overflowing with their softness.
I saw in her tears how much she had missed it
And how much I would someday miss it, too."

As Doulas we witness the value of generational love, both emotional and physical care, through cultural traditions, memories, and wisdom. We will always advocate for your care and for strengthening family bonds.

| The Cape is All Yours |

It's World Doula Week... we can toot our own horns, but when it comes to our care, it's all about you tooting your own.

The benefits of professional Doula support are researched-based and can be life-changing. The boring definition, you'll read on every page: emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labour, and your postpartum days (cherished as they are).

But to be honest, Doula care goes deeper... at the deepest moments we help and remind you that your strength is part of who you are... we believe in it, and we're honoured to stand by it. Every. Single. Time.

We love what we do, and it shows. The support and care our Team offers are planted in experience, compassion, reliability, and professionalism... but at the very root of it all, our support and mentorship is all about you.

We have Birth and Postpartum Doulas on our Team who are available to help you tighten your own cape coming into this Spring, Summer, and the Fall. Click the link in our bio to take the 1st step in having a Doula join your birth team.

| Almond Eyes & Chunky Thighs! |

Here's a whole lot of "extra" cuteness for your wall this week! Thank you to our client for snapping this photo, as we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day (March 21st)... also, FYI Canadian Down Syndrome Week (CDSW) is in October... but there isn't a season or day we don't celebrate this extra cuteness around here.

Head over to The Canadian Down Syndrome Society website for your opportunity to sign a petition to tell our government it's never okay to overlook the rights of people with Down syndrome... limiting access to education, healthcare, employment, housing, and recreation.

Laura's quote for her daughter G, "This baby is top notch!" And we agree! Thank you Laura for sharing G with us ♥️ plus she wins the T-Shirt of the week 🥰
