New school year, new challenges 🍂📚 Here are 6 ways to manage academic burnout and support your wellbeing:

1. Break tasks into smaller steps: Instead of tackling an entire assignment at once, break it down into 20–30 minute chunks.

2. Care for Your Mind & Body: Sleep consistently, move daily, hydrate often and eat healthy to help support your brain function, mood and energy.

3. Set realistic goals: Not everything can be done perfectly—sometimes “good enough” is enough.

4. Talk to peers: Study groups can make learning more social and less isolating.

5. Allow self-compassion: Burnout doesn’t mean failure. It’s a signal that you need rest and recalibration.

6. Add joy: Schedule activities you genuinely enjoy, so your life isn’t only about school.

Start strong, but pace yourself. Academic success isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. Remember to take care of you first!

This years donation will be going to Youth Centres of Calgary & Umoja Community Mosaic!

Youth Centres of Calgary provides vulnerable youth aged 9-15 with a home-like after-school safe space. The program aims to help youth reach their full potential and break the cycles of poverty by offering nutritious food, homework help, technology access, social activities and positive connections. With donor support, Youth Centres of Calgary plans to open more safe spaces for communities in need.

Umoja Community Mosaic is a grassroots multi-service agency that offers underserved Calgarians access to supports and programs they wouldn’t usually have access to. The organization serves the community through five different programs: Soccer Without Boundaries, Mosaic Food and Nutrition Program, Thrive Education and Tutoring Support, Mosaic Wellness and Counselling, and our Community Connections Program.

Youth spaces are essential to health equity because they reduce barriers to care, provide safe and inclusive environments, and address the broader social determinants of health.

Physical activity is shown to help reduce long-term healthcare costs and chronic disease disparities. If people have equitable access to physical activity, the health gap can be reduced!

Here are some ideas that can help:

1. Break the Access Barrier: Low-cost or free fitness programs can reduce disparities in physical health outcomes, especially in low-income communities.

2. Create Safe Spaces to Move: Safe, inclusive public spaces like parks, walking trails, and community gyms help make access to exercise more equitable.

3. Ensure Adaptive Fitness for All Bodies: Adaptive exercise options like seated workouts, adaptive sports leagues, or specialized equipment ensure that all bodies can benefit from movement.

4. Encourage Cultural Inclusion in Fitness: Culturally relevant movement can boost participation among diverse communities.
