We are looking for an addition to our Calgary Skin Cancer Centre team!
Someone with a passion for patient care!

As our Medical Receptionist, you will be the first face our patients see when they walk into our clinic, greeting them and starting their day for surgery with Dr. Guillemaud or consultations with Heather Harper, MSN FNP.

As most of your responsibilities will be around booking medical appointments; answering patient phone calls, and creating patient appointment charts, having a medical or healthcare admin/reception experience is a requirement. The position is full time, Monday to Friday, and we are accepting resumes now! Email your resume to nikki@calgaryskincancer.com and if you are the right fit we will contact you for an interview!

Can’t wait to have you join our team ☺️

⛱️ ☀️ 🧴 KNOW THE FACTS 🧴 ☀️ ⛱️

It’s a fact: There is no such thing as a safe or healthy tan. Tanning increases your risk of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma.

Tanning outside or indoors can have dangerous consequences. What is tanning? In short, tanning is a sign of skin damage. While often associated with good health, the “glow” of a tan is the very opposite of healthy; it is evidence of DNA injury to your skin. Tanning damages your skin cells and speeds up visible signs of aging. Worst of all, tanning can lead to skin cancer.

‼️ Your best defense is to avoid tanning altogether. ‼️

May 7th ☀️ Check Your Skin Day

1. Using a mirror in a well-lit room, check the front of your body – face, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, abdomen, thighs and lower legs.

2. Turn sideways, raise your arms and look carefully at the right and left sides of your body, including the underarm area.

3. With a hand-held mirror, check your upper back, neck and scalp. Next, examine your lower back, buttocks, backs of thighs and calves.

4. Examine your forearms, palms, back of the hands, fingernails and in between each finger.

5. Finally, check your feet – the tops, soles, toenails, toes and spaces in between.

“With melanoma being the 5th most common cancer type found in youth and young adults (15-29) and 4th most common cancer type found in middle-aged adults (30-49), it should be a priority for Canadians to learn how to conduct a skin cancer self-examination and know the warning signs,” says National Chair of the CDA Sun Awareness Working Group and Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Sunil Kalia.

Skin cancer isn't going to check itself out.

Tomorrow, for ☀️ Check Your Skin Day ☀️ we will be posting a guide to performing your own at home.

Self skin reviews should be performed after a shower, once a month. The number one way to treat skin cancers and Melanoma is with early detection.
The sooner that we are able to diagnose and treat your skin cancer the less invasive the treatment will be.

If you have previously been diagnosed with skin cancer (Basal Cell, Squamous Cell, Melanoma, or any other) speak with your family doctor, or dermatologist about how often your should be getting a medical .
