“I started working with Joel 1.5 years ago with goals to build muscle and change my body composition, but also get into a better fitness routine that would support the sports and activities I’m interested, as well as rehab past injuries. What was even more impressive was Joel’s collaboration with my Chiro, Ray, to build rehabilitation into my workouts, which has resulted in me needing less chiro and physio as time has gone on.
Over my time with Joel, our focus has been on consistency, prioritizing protein, increasing my daily movement and progressive overload. What I have loved most about this program is that it never felt like I had to be obsessive or extreme. I was able to work towards my goals while having the flexibility to live my life free of guilt.
Working with Joel, I was able to develop a balance that worked for me to keep me consistent. I lightly tracked my macro intake, still enjoyed drinks and food with friends, and if I didn’t get all my workouts in throughout the week, I just did better the next week. Recently, I was cleaning out some photos on my phone and came across the photos on the left. Back then, I was still feeling confident and strong, but I desired more guidance and a program I could stick to. Joel worked with me to ditch the “perfection” mindset, where instead of feeling like I had to be perfectly dialed-in with training and eating in order to be successful. I’ve learned that showing up for myself consistently, no matter what, even imperfectly, is what matters most.
Finding this balance has been the most valuable takeaway for me. It encourages me to keep going and I’m excited to see what the next year’s progress photos will look like!“
